In Singapore, NLB only has CDs, VCDs and DVDs in Library@Esplanade. There used to be a music CD collection in Jurong Regional Library, but after several months, the collection was withdrawn, because the CDs were badly abused. Many of the CDs and accompanying booklets were misplaced or missing. Very sad.
IMO, NLB had made a stupid decision to put the CD collection in the youth section in JRL. Many youths are inconsiderate and they dunno how to take care of library materials...
As for the other libraries, there are only CD-roms and a very small collection of VCDs and DVDs (mostly educational ones). I guess NLB doesn't dare to put music CDs in the other libraries because they're scared that the discs are abused and vandalised just like the ones in JRL... I find it very sad, as music lovers only have one choice (Library@Esplanade) when they wanna borrow music CDs. In Hong Kong, I can borrow music CDs from any public library... (In HK, I can borrow pop music CDs such as Jay Chou, Nicholas Tse, Eason Chan, S.H.E., etc. In Singapore, all the pop music CDs in Library@Esplanade are for "reference" and cannot be borrowed out...)

central library at bugis is good to look at, but i can't bring my own books in to read !! don't know why they need to hire security guard and still be afraid that people will steal books out ?!

went to central library reference section today and realised that the lockers are now free! When new books are published, it seems to take 6 months to get onto the shelves.
It's not bad, unless you really need the book quick. -

You know I actually go to NLB online catalogue and search for books? Then I go to different branches to get these books...I stay near town but I have visited the libs at Woodlands,Pasir Ris,Jurong West,Cheng San,Sengkang to get the books not available at the libs near my place. -

If you have nothing to do, you can go library hopping (visiting all the libraries in Singapore). I did that during my NS days when I was bored and I had nights-out every night. By visiting all the libraries, you can figure out the collection, the layout, and other special features of different libraries... (I admit that I'm a book-worm and a library freak... Hahaha....)
One good thing about NLB is that I can borrow an item from one library and return it at another library. So I can borrow books all over Singapore. After I finish reading, I will just dump the books at the nearest library to my home - Bedok Library, before heading to other libraries to borrow more books. -
Aiya...is ok one lar..some NLB gets lots of new books to read while other dont..

For eg. Stalin, Lenin, "the Kim Empire", Osama and etc..... -
i borrow before the magazines hor, very crumpled n many cut outs from the pages... knn

depends on wat kind of books...if you looking for very new books then likely all borrowed... but at least its free ( if you return the books on time that is
