sorry to let u know dat yr teacher has given u the wrong info. when girls wear ring on the middle finger doesn't mean married to themselves, it's bullshit! To some who love to wear ring and are unmarried so they put on their rings on the middle fingers so that people will not be mistaken that they are married. Engagement rings are also worn on the middle fingers!
Why yr teacher so like dat huh? A teacher giving wrong info, think your teacher better upgrade himself or herself for he or she has such poor knowledge and mislead students!!!!

Dunno if this is true or not,
Following chinese custom, ring is on guy's left fourth finger whereas girl is on the right. Supposed to have some significance.
However some will follow the western custom where both male and female on the left fourth finger.
