There is a way to do medicine but you have to do it out of Singapore. Finish poly - then get a 3.85 GPA for your degree and then take the MCAT/GAMSAT. Apply to Graduate Medical School.Originally posted by seanliew:Poly doesn't have course link to medicine. Unless u do nursing or u mean the top 3% of the whole intake. lol very very rare especially now got so many PRC ppl around.
Note JC is the best road for singaporeans to go U. Poly got too many ppl fighting for top 3%. And it really makes u look so weak and small in a hall of 200-300 ppl.

If you want to get to the uni either way, you better damn well be studious.Originally posted by m0use:is it difficult to get into uni from jc?
i'm taking my Os this year and still unsure of going to poly or jc in the future. i'd like to study uni but heard that jc life is very stress and i'm not that really studious kind of person.
u come meridian jc...u play for first year...u see wad happens?Originally posted by cAr|n:i think poly is harder in the sense that u have 30+ modules to complete and u need to consistently maintain ur grade in every module every semester in order to graduate well... even in every module it can be made up of projects, tests and exams and u need to do well in each component
jc is probably easier to manage cos if u're enough of a mugger u can play for the first year and work very hard the 2nd year cos the only exam that determines ur grade is the A levels
i think if u believe that u have the quality to enter uni then go for poly.... cos wat u learn in poly builds a very strong foundation for ur studies in uni
i'm not sure about the course of ur choice... i'm a biz student from poly now in uni and i found this to be very true... the first and even 2nd yr in uni feels like a refresher course which goes a long way in strengthening basic concepts and helps u understand the harder topics easier
one thing u may have to note is that it is much harder for poly students to apply for uni scholarships than for jc students... seems that more scholarships are available to jc students... at least during my time
same boat. Mi is 1 more year. POA is very easy.Originally posted by m0use:i want to be a teacher next time
i've checked the NIE website and having a diploma only enables us to teach in primary schs while a degree could be in pri,sec or even jcs. definately getting a degree is better isn't it?
but i'm really afraid going to jc would be too stressful for me to take and i wouldn't have the confident of getting into the uni after my As. i heard that it's very difficult to get in. don't think my parents would allow me to study oversea too.
or perhaps going to MI is a better idea? one more year for me to cope. moreover i study POA and it's only offered in MI. i think POA is a subject easy sub to score.
accountancy course in smu nus or ntu have low or high cut off points?Originally posted by cAr|n:hmm... easier to go uni doesn't mean easy to get into the course of ur choice as well... especially for courses with very high cut-off points e.g medicine, law, etc
if end up in a course that u're not interested in lagi worse... that's why if go poly at least u got a relevant diploma to fall back on... of course this is a very conservative view lah
