I personally know a person who complain that people are too materialistic and superficial. During the same conversation, the same man told me that he will never buy from a shop that gives less than 10 percent discount.
Last time I used to be very pissed off at this sort of behaviour, because I thought that they were "deliberately" not making any sense.
Recently I realized - maybe common sense is not very common and many people actually don't know that they are not making any sense.
Are there any things that people do that absolutely makes no sense and gets on your nerves? -

Some teachers don't make any sense. I recall being made fun of by such teachers.
Once in secondary school, a teacher was telling us about colours. When she mentioned black, I remarked that black isn't really a colour, but an absence of light.
She was unhappy with that view and then started to make fun of me in front of the class.
"See," she said, "how do you like my new hairstyle today? Hairstyle that you cannot see? Hahahahahaha!"
To me, I once thought making sense (rationality and logical rules) is a basic mental function of people.

Then we talked about the popular urban myth that pointing at the Moon will make your ears rot off.
I said "er, you shouldn't point to the Moon because you'll never know."
My friend said "Man, you just contradicted yourself right there!"

But in the end become you wait for them half hour then they come find you.

Pupils cannot be rude to teachers? I have meet teachers that everyday use sarcastic remarks say students.
Students say a little nia go general office liao.
The education system in sg is flawed la.
They keep on increase teacher pay so more ppl wan become teacher.
But then most of those that become teacher does not have the teaching interest at all.
They just take their pay students got learn anot dont care.
They buay song with students a little they just send them to office.
Parents come they diam diam. Dont want find trouble for themself. -

Both type of teachers help to shape me into the man I am today.
Suffice to say, while some teachers nowadays are damn too much, at least they don't beat you.
Last time I primary school time, teachers beat students with ruler for talking too much in class.
No need to explain one, just *PIAK* go back and sit. You feel the stinging sensation for 5 min.
I even kenna "niam" (pinch) by secondary school teacher. Nowadays this is not allowed and parents are much more protective. -

And you are right to say our education system has room for improvement.
Last time when I in primary/secondary school, my principal always tell us to be "well-rounded" students.
If your science is good, then don't study too much. Study english instead.
They want to "make" us into everything B+ average student. So that we look good on the national school rankings.
But how can? Every person have likes/dislikes strengths/weaknesses.
How can you force a good science student to abandon her interest and ngeh ngeh (force force) study something they don't like until everything only average?
Or vice versa?
Today students have more room to develop their own unique strengths. But the incorrect view that creativity can be forced out is still quite common. -

Let's talk about common sense. If we bring our handphones to school, do we use it when the teacher is teaching? It seems like when the teachers are teaching and their handphones ring, they'll quickly take the handphone and leave the classroom. i was once a secondary student myself and i gurantee you hp was the greatest distraction of all times especially with all the sms-ing during class. not many are patient enough to wait for the lesson to be over to reply a sms. this is why i think perhaps school don't allow students to bring hp to school. but as far as i know you ARE allowed to bring hp to school during secondary sch can't you?Originally posted by aku1b0d0:Let's talk about common sense.
