ex jc student here who screwed up his A levels and thus cant make it to uni

Well, frankly in Poly I feel you are better equipped for Uni. life, where else do they teach you the importance of profiling your group members, back-stabbing, politics, bending the rules etc...basically its like a BMT to Uni. My Uni friends all tell me how much they envy their Poly counter-parts as they are much more adaptable to whats thrown at them.

Anyway, if wan go poly, make sure u really wanna go into that line, or else study already dun like then too late already. As for jc, study hard lo.. or else if cant go uni the A level cert is just a useless piece of paper. -

I smell its a top 5 jc.
My friend told me a certain jc principal will look down on people who drops a subject, and she got lectured really badly when she intended to do so. Another friend of mine who was from RI couldn't make it to a certain jc during first 3 months but later did, but was forced to take only 3 subject combinations, coz the principal thinks he cannot handle it. Condemned even before studying. -
Actually I don't really care about the JC and poly great divide.
It's stupid
In the real world, A level cert is just ONLY an entrance certificate for entry into University . No one can deny getting all Cs in an A level certificate is like getting a piece of toilet paper.
Polytechnic diplomas give you skill which helps to get the employment, but less the advantage of getting into University. -

My opinions....
Going Jc is a waste of time...in JC what you are doing is just reading up books and books and books
Whereas in poly got so many courses that will prepare you to go out to the soceity to work and if better greade in poly...you will onli need to go U for one year onli while JC going U still need take up course that are offer in poly for further job avancements -
I think unless everyone has gone to both Jc and Poly, perhaps they should not be so judgmental.
Saying something like Poly is for stupid people or saying that going to Jc is really silly and useless is immature both ways.
Applies to the VP, applies to everyone else. -
how can you call yourself an educator when u condemn a student even before he starts studying?
i question the moral values of these "educators" and what they are teaching their students.
arrogance and nonchalants might not come directly from the students( jc students display tons of those). probably because the influence is instilled into them by the principles and their teachers - propaganda.
JCs are traditionally the 'place' to go if u wanted a good future. that is true 10-20 years ago. but now the fact that singapore economic is looking for specialist in the required fields means the specialised training is more important and is in much higher demand
ITE and Polys can offer that.
JC cannot.
the JC educators start to cannot accept this fact that they are losing the upperhand in education. thus they started to form this protective layer around them, layers of invisible supremacy and dominance. to do that, they start to instill their students with the elite mindset, telling them "you are the elite of the society"
humans are like this, when their position in society is threaten, they will come out with all kinds of excuses to make themselves feel good -

This vice principal must be a living fossil trapped in decadance to still indulge in such stereotype. It's amazing how MOE can still blindly approve promotion to such 'old-timers' living in the past.
Such elitist thinking is akin to the older generation of British, who still believe they are living in the glory days of the 'British Empire'. -
