I agree. I'm from a JC & find that it is a waste of time & effort for lazy people like me. Don't think my A level results will be good when it is released...

Actually the society really does favour those in JC.
For JC guys going to NS, u get a lot more opportunities than those from Poly. You would be invited to RSAF Officer seminar, a chance of getting a invitation to test ur ability to be a Pilot and a better chance of going into OCS.
It is more advantageous for one to get into a JC if u think you can handle the academic expectations. Singapore IS an Elitist society afterall. -

Only 20% of the students can make it to JC and Innova JC is just like all of the other JC. While the JC VP is wrong in saying what she said, some comments here are just as bad. Please do not equate JC students with that VP together, and scold all of them. We did not ask for that "elite" tag, its what people branded us with.
Apparently, some people with anti-JC outlook loves to lump people from JC all together and criticise them. Won't that make him/her look as stupid as the VP? -

poly got poly advantages..
i went poly.. den get to used many instruments tt my jc mates in uni nvr even seen b4... in uni.. all we used are lousy and old instruments.. poly more high tech even though the fees are so much lower..
uni = useless... coz no instruments to use...
skills r impt... my poor jc mates dun even noe how to use them... i tink i will have a beta advantage than them in securing a job... also did research proj in poly 2... another advantage.. also got industrial attachment.. another advantage..
although their theories r stronger than mine (esp. in maths), their results r almost the same becoz all one nid to get all these theories is to work hard n study smart... so now results oso the same... but i got skills they dun haf...
so who say poly = useless... ppl who choose poly r way smarter (if they alrdy noe what they wan in life)... imho -

In terms of education wise,i am not sure. But in terms of character wise. People from JC r more mature and better. Most Poly people cannot make it....

Anyway, if wan go poly, make sure u really wanna go into that line, or else study already dun like then too late already. As for jc, study hard lo.. or else if cant go uni the A level cert is just a useless piece of paper.
A level holders definitely have more choices coz they're free to choose any course they like. some of the uni courses take in poly grads (those not in top 5%) based on their previous courses n portfolios.
But... if u really know what u like, then don't waste your time studying subjects that are like an extension from what u did in sec sch... poly really prepares u well 4 uni life! esp grp project, hands-on assignments n internship. (speaking from experience :p). oh ya, n there's subjects exemption too! so u can skip certain foundation modules

unfortunately quite a number of the older generations (like my mum -_-) still thinks JC is a better path if one wans to go uni....
well lets hope our generations when we become parents, this trend will change... -
