Thanks for your time in answering. =)
There are different type of antibiotics acting on different type of bacteria
You have the broad spectrum and narrow spectrum
Broad spectrum antibiotics are targeting a wide range of bacteria while narrow spectrum targets specific bacteria
Antibiotics are not to be abused. If you abuse them , you might add to the growing antibiotic resistant bacteria problem . Which means more expensive antibiotics or worse in the future , your bacterial infection might become so bad that it cannot be treated with any type of antibiotics at all.
Most antibiotics are nephrotoxic - toxic to the kidneys . That is probably why your doctor will tell you to drink lots of water to hydrate yourself and to cleanse out your kidneys. The more 'potent' an antibiotic is , the more toxic it is and comes with more side effects. Vancomycin which is a top level antibiotic - levels have to be done pre and post - to check that liver and renal toxicity has not occurred.
So if you guys out there wish to abuse antibiotics or not complete your antibiotics when prescribed to you. I wish you all the best and hope you will never end up with multi resistant bacterial infections coz those are a pain to treat for the doctor as well as for you. IV erythromycin hurts like a b
itch

and so does azithromycin ....it is said to feel like fire going thru ur veins literally ....have heard patients screaming so badly from the pain that lignocaine has to be mixed with the intravenous antibiotic infusion to soothe them down.
