Another one. Pray that you don't get infected by the same bacteria. Some TB patients here have developed a resistance to antibiotics... because they never finish the whole course.Originally posted by furb:I never finish my antibiotics![]()

1 month is seriously way too long... and you say blood in your phlegm. That's why he asked you go for X-Ray.Originally posted by browniebaobao:doc wanted me to go for an x-ray coz he said i have been coughing so long, i might have TB. hahaha... i said no.
You could try a mantoux and then give sputum specimen and then x ray . If sputum positive for acid fast bacilli - the treatment is directly observed therapy . They watch u while you finish your antibiotics in front of them. You get to jump queue in polyclinic as well!Originally posted by browniebaobao:doc wanted me to go for an x-ray coz he said i have been coughing so long, i might have TB. hahaha... i said no.

What are antibiotics?
Antibiotics are strong medicines that can stop some infections and save lives. But antibiotics can cause more harm than good when they aren't used the right way.
Do antibiotics work against all infections?
No. Antibiotics only work against infections caused by bacteria. They don't work against any infections caused by viruses. Viruses cause colds, the flu, and most coughs and sore throats.
ooh, you are an epidemiologist then?Originally posted by fymk:did nursing - worked in hospitals before. Used to want to go med school until this job popped up . Seen alot of cases with antibiotic resistant bacterial infections.

yup - working in that capacity now but focusing more on data/statistical analysis and not on outbreak investigations. Hard to get this job - too specialised and preference is usually given to doctors . So I am doing more of statistical jobs since docs have the advantage of the clinical side of things.Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:ooh, you are an epidemiologist then?

doc prescribed me antibiotics for my cough.
Anybody answer my question?Originally posted by coldzero:How long does it takes for an obivous effectiveness of the antibiotics to be seen? I have been taking it for a week for my acne, and not much improvement was seen.
Are all antibiotics prescribled by doctors the same? As in those given for fever purposes the same as those given to cure acne?Originally posted by coldzero:Anybody answer my question?![]()

Ohh.. Okay. Thanks.Originally posted by the Bear:acne is a different thing altogether...
it can be brought about by infections, or hormonal changes, or allergies...
antibiotics may take the infection out of the equation but the hormonal changes are still there...
That's what my lecturer told me.Originally posted by fymk:yup - working in that capacity now but focusing more on data/statistical analysis and not on outbreak investigations.
