Come to club 30, its more fun with more mature adults and forumers there. Less heckling by strange folks.
And Veron, if you are planning on staging performance.I do have some other contacts.
Fren of mine was involved in a dance performance last year or so. It didnt do too well.
And him, I know from internet few years back, intro to dance studiio and he eventually joins other dance studios and then graduated to performances.
You might want to know how his team did it.

And ermmm.....comtemporary dance? I noticed that Phuket, Thailand were I was at last year, dont have a decent dance school. Not even ballet for the children. Was encouraged by folks to do business and set one up there. You might want to consider a business opportunity there? I felt that Singapore is kinda saturated. -

Wow...Finally I have people responding.... There are a lot of places to dance and it depends on what type of dance you are looking for. ..
There are Hip Hop, Ballroom, Jazz, Ballet and Contemporary.

Hi Maurince, Its kind of bored that there is no response for the past few days. I thought this topic is going to its end.
Anyway, I am busy choreographing dance pieces for New York show and it is very exciting to be in this creative process.
Even though I have sacrifice a lot for my passion and not earning enough to be comfortable, I am happy with what I am doing now. I hope that this will bring some inspiration to people that job satisfaction is the bread to the heart. -

Ballroom dancing in Singapore is quite happening.
I know that there are many places that held Ballroom classes. Salsa is "in".
Do you like to leisurely hold a partner and dance or would you prefer to have a more upbeat type of dancing? -

Stiff is fine, as long as you have the will to be flexible...Ha ha...Just kidding.
I have seen the website of "John and Josephine Dance Creative" and it looks promising.
There is RpMerleon Studio also. This area is not my specialty but my advice to you is to look them up in the website, call them or find out the dance schedule, make an appointment to just watch and observe the class.
A good class and teacher is such that there should be encouraging environment, mutual respect between instructor and students, and last but not least a sound and good teaching method.
It takes a lot of patience on your side to pick things up but eventually, once you got the pace of it, you would enjoy dancing. -

Rhumba is a challenging one.
The good thing of getting out of the house and sign up for classes is such that the first big step is "ON". The rest will be on the momentum of the class to bring you to a higher level.

I know its more motivating if someone is with you. You never know, once you make the observation session with school, you might like it so much that there will be lots of partner for you to dance with.
Give it a try for yourself and should not wait for others to make the move. Youe are the Mover.

I remembered how dreadful it was for me in the past... Even after I started flying, the flying culture is not my cup of tea.
Too much restriction and orders to be fulfilled.
I have made a big round in terms of my career and people might say that I have wasted 8 to 9 years of my time searching for my path, I think it is not wasted.
I have learned that it is up to myself to make my own destiny. In the past, I used to complain a lot to my loved ones on how regretful I was for not pursuing my passion. My loved ones actually "push me to one corner"(not literally) by telling me to either stop whining and accept it or make a move.
Its like a wake up call
.
I think I am not solely relying on luck alone, but determination to push this far. Till now, I have to discipline myself to take my own class from Mon to Friday.
Not easy, but worthwhile. -

Hmm.. Veron, not only you can be a dancer and dance instructor, tink u will work fine as a motivation speaker.. Haha.. You are really a living example "Living Your Passion'.. But i tink many of us is living in a not so motivating surrounding..
But i hope we can at least start by taking the step what the heart says and not what the environment demands from you .. -

Believe me, till now, I still have the eyes of disapproval from my mum, even though its not as bad as before, but I can still sense the question in the eyes.
Art is always so lop sided in Singapore. I feel that we have become a by-product of what the society wants us to be rather than what our heart desires.
I can see that Performing Art is growing but it will take generations to change the mentality.
I am called to dance and inspire. And everyone's calling is different. -

You are young and young is good in the sense that you can still make choices but not so because there are a lot of pressures and expectations to be met. I am totally with you in pursuing your passion whether it is a dancer or not but first, you have to sit down and think deeply on yourself.
Is this what I would eventually love to be doing for the rest of my life?
What do I see myself in 5 to 10 years time being a dancer and a non-dancer?
What I did in the past is to seek answers from God and myself, sitting down and think...
I have realised that when I dance, there is a burning fire in me that takes me to another place where there is no boundaries but just creativity and expression. It seems like time is at a standstill...
I can see that I will be and inspirer through my movement and that's how I have decided to take the full plunge in it.
I am not born in a rich family and I have to work hard for it. All my savings were gone and now, I am left with what I had in the beginning but I came back a more fulfilling person. -

I've waited, went dancing, wait some more and still I went for classes myself.
Had to stopp once or twice instead of continuing the class cos of lack of finances, hit & run accident, leaving for the USA & so on.
Once you started, it will roll on itself. Take the first step.
