This is their reply:
"We refer to your email of 11 Jan 07 about the feedback from a reader who found a "bug" in the chicken pita she ordered from Kenny Rogers restaurant at Suntec City Mall.
Food vendors and their assistants are responsible for selling clean and wholesome food to the public. The National Environment Agency (NEA) has a system in placed to ensure that operators of eateries are equipped with the necessary knowledge and are able to practise a good standard of food and personal hygiene at all times.
Our officers conduct regular checks to ensure that the operators and food handlers observe these practices closely. Appropriate action is taken against those who do not.
On receipt of the feedback, our officers checked the Kenny Rogers restaurant at Suntec City on 12 Jan 07 and found cockroaches in the preparation area of the restaurant. The restaurant management was fined and imposed demerit points.
We have also required the management to take immediate action to eradicate the cockroaches. Our follow-up inspection on 15 Jan 07 showed that the management has complied with our directive.
We will keep the restaurant under watch and ensure that it is maintained clean and free of any vermin infestation. We thank your reader for the feedback."
