Actually there is another lot of Australians who thank Singapore for carrying out the permanent solution. I know most of my australian colleagues supported the hanging.Originally posted by Ignatiaus:Remember last year when Singapore hung that Vietnam born Aussie guy who trafficked drugs also?
Remember how WE got called barbarians by the aussies?
History will repeat itself

"aiya ok la give u chance go back nigeria"
other ppl will seize the opportunity and do the same
more ppl will traffick drugs
and not all the time do these ppl get caught
so more heroin in sg
No one is saying we let him get away scott free. We can use other forms of deterance.. No one in this world has the right to take away another persons, regardless of whether it is legal or not.Originally posted by the Bear:as much as i do not like capital punishment, the law MUST be upheld no matter foreigner or citizen...
so, if a singaporean goes to nigeria and murders someone, we get off because we're not nigerian?
not a chance right?
the resources that enable him to live in jail will save another person's life somewhere else. i say hang.Originally posted by OO_OO_OO:No one is saying we let him get away scott free. It is time to mend our laws. Using violence to curb violence is not the way to go.
If a person is dangerous, we can always lock him away for the safety of others.
Wont we be as good as murders if we kill someone just like that?
Who are we to decide if someone deserves to live or die?
To hell with the officials who want to take on godly roles. they cant even give an inanimate object life, yet they dare to remove life from an another being.
ahh. that sounds so perfect isnt it?Originally posted by Ito_^:the resources that enable him to live in jail will save another person's life somewhere else. i say hang.
Simple logic dictates if one does not wishes to be hangedOriginally posted by OO_OO_OO:DOWN WITH CAPITAL PUNISHMENT!!
What good does hanging do? You kill one of god's creation, causes misery to too many people who know the guy and dont give him a chance to repent.
Sure, there's something called deterance. But if hanging is the only form of deterance which we can think of, then i feel very sorry for our judicary. Maybe it even needs to be replaced if thats the case.
Furthermore, no one got hurt or harmed in the process, so what right do we have to take away his life?
an eye for an eye leaves everyone blind.
an eye for nothing makes us a fucked up country.
in the first place, not everybody believes in god.Originally posted by OO_OO_OO:ahh. that sounds so perfect isnt it?
but it doesnt happen. not in this world at least.
if its a simple, direct situation, where i had to choose between saving an innocent persons life to letting a criminal live, then i would follow your stand.
otherwise, no. We shouldnt play god.

One should not dabble in recreational drugs!
Drugs do get people hurt and harmed in the process.
[b]Stage One: Drug lords force poor 3rd world nation people to farm and harvest the ingredients to make the drugs.
Stage Two: Drug gets manufactured by the drug lords and then prey on lesser lackeys to get the drugs on the street.
Stage Three: Drugs sold on the street to addicts and would-be addicts
Stage Four: Addicts develop psychosis & dementia over long periods of abuse
Stage Five: Addicts rejects friends and family interventions due to uncontrollable withdrawal symptoms if substance abuse is stopped
Final Stage: Addict dies from overdose due to taking larger doses to satisfy unending substance needs.
This is what happens when you don't have hangings in Singapore
So even if state executions are inhumane to you...
How do you weigh that against addicts who die everyday?
Do you stop the traffickers? Let them spread poison making more die over time?
You do the math
If this is a F**ked up country like you say, why not get up and do something about it instead of being some internet tough guy?

If you say no to ExecutionsOriginally posted by OO_OO_OO:We can always employ other forms of deterance..
And i really wish i could stop this death penalty crap. But will the govt listen to me? no way.
the only way out is to become the minister of home affairs or have the other countries pressurise us.
the latter has a greater chance of success.

Cars & Drugs are on the opposite ends of the spectrum so you can't compare them thus making the argument mootOriginally posted by walesa:If your argument made sense, could I then hold an automobile manufacturer responsible if a reckless driver killed a loved one of mine on the road?
