Why married when don't want kids.....??

.....Know a few couples who were married and definitely don't want to have kids. Was asking myself, what's the different by just co-habiting shouldn't it be enough? After all to marry is to have a proper family unit, so without kids somehow it looks incomplete........

Perhaps still not ready to add another family member? You have to know, getting a kid = more responsibilities. If you are not ready for a drastic change in your life, you may indirectly harm the child in his/her growing up process.

The guy want the girl all to himself. No more takers. Make the girl resign to the fate her life as swinging single is over for good, because the married before stigma is hard to shake off.

talked to them and understand their perspective...
they want to be able to retired at 50. and with kids, u wun be able to retired. or the situation will not allow u to retire.
to married is to give status and recognition to each other -
No confident in the future...too much variables.
So dont dare to have kids -
y does a house have to be complete with children? not all ppl like children. plan for children when u are sure u can provide them with the necessarities. else, i feel that should drop the idea of having.

Times change, some couple have kid too early and later regrate cos they can't get along. Nowadays, kid don't take care of old folk instead the old folk had to go to old folks home.

Sadly thats the case huh? Though I find it amazing the muslims dun have much problems regarding family. not too sure if that is the case, usually muslim dont have much planning for future. i used to have one col who has 7 kids, the youngest is only 2 yr old but he is aldy around 50 year old. by the time he is 70, the child is only 20... not even into working society yet, if he is good in studying. but is true that their family bonding is good.Originally posted by Bontakun:Sadly thats the case huh? From the day ur wife say "I'M Pregnant" till the day ur son/daughter managed to land a stable job. Go figure the expenses.

But the money involve in bringing up a child is a lot. so maybe tts why kids are not wanted. -

You can have kids even without getting married. It's all about biology.

I also dun plan to have kids once
i get marry
Can save the money up for holidays, buy a car
and buy a bigger house -

I rather feed and grow my bank accounts than try to raise kids in Singapore.
Here's why:
>> I hate the education system here, period. Doing it my way, will mean overseas education all the way, but that will be expensive.
>> If I have a son; he will be obligated by nationality to serve NS much of his life, and in the end his career here will be impeded by the many foreigners here who DO NOT serve NS. Getting a better career would mean going overseas, which is quite LPPL - i might as well migrate and have a son abroad.
>> if I get a daughter; she might very likely be attracted to a foreigner and fly away eventually
>> and in decades into the future, general costs of living will be exorbitant, considering that GST might very well be over 10%! Effects of globalization can potentially mean a meaninglessly tough living just because our go wants to make more money
As such, I'd rather bank on lots and lots of money, which will take care of me and my wife when we retire elsewhere. I'm gonna demand all our CPF back.

To each his/her own mah! Depends on the purpose of them getting married. Some marry to have companion, some marry to have their own family- to give birth!! Whether to have kids or not for the married ones, think the difference between cohabiting and marriage is - we all know, marriage is registered, it is legal!
Some wanna have kids, but have problems conceiving, so we can't just blah blah blah, gotta look at situation mah! some wanna have kids but don't want to give birth so soon. So . . . . . . .. ... gan kai, gan kai!!! It's their life!!!!

marriage is about putting on paper a commitment between 2 people. a promise to love and hold each other, in sickness, in health, in rich, in poor, in faithfulness til death do them part. kids are a bonus, an addition joy, an addition blessing to a family. if you don't have/can't have kids, you are still a family and still have joy.
the difference between marriage and co-habitation? a piece of legal paper. you can co-habitated and have the same promise. personally i feel that if you and your other half can make this promise, you should also legalized it to protect each other (and your future kids).
