In a way,
1) most people do not understand the seriousness
2) people will just say it doesn't affect them, so they dun care.
As for electric car, the technology is already there since 1990s.
Infact new electric cars now can outperform Ferraris and Posches easily
and is 2-3 times more efficient than current Hybrids.

There is much controversy over some battery technology patent and rights
and its linkage with oil companies, and thus affected electric car advancements in th 1990s.
Fortunately, electric car development is now continuing using new battery technology that these US oil companies cannot access yet.
And all thanks to some great entrepeneurs behind these.
