We are the frog in the well when it comes to viewing the universe and beyond. You could readily disprove the existence of God just by trusting the compelling evidence you have, but i would hold back my statement for there is still much for humanity to learn about the bigger world out there.

Hahaha~ Big Bang Theory is actually based on the thermodynamic laws - which are pretty accurate and in coherence with the natural laws of the world. But we are actually assuming that the natural law are universal across the universe (assuming that apple drops down in presence of gravity, heat dissipate over time, all those stuff in Galaxy SgForums, Galaxy Whatever You Wanna Name It) so as to make this judgment. yea its true that athetist is just someone who doesn't believe in anything but then again... alot of athetist spoil the name of athetist and make everyone think they are against God... so that's why alot of misconception...

assume there is a GOD, we still have to really figure out what are we supposed to do with him. what are his instructions, what are his intentions. atheist cannot prove to you that there is no GOD or creator, but there is no logical evidence at the moment to say that there is one.
so we must live our life based on the belief that there is no god and we just continue to explore the nature to see how we can find more useful knowledge. if god exist and he is willing to drop evidence such that most of the scientist are convinced of him, then we shall then start to learn what the heck he wants to tell us, or what he is up to.

Tell me that we are not frog in the well in respect to our understanding of the universe.
Of course human can study his environment! But we're pretty limited in this field actually, not? How well do you truly, understand the nature of the universe then? Are you 100% sure that there are absolutely nothing sentient or novel out there? Are you 100% sure that every region and corners of the universe are govern by the same natural laws? If you can't, then isn't human not that well adept in studying his environment? That is no difference from being a frog in a well. Giving the limiting factors, both the frog in the well and us on Earth share the same miserable fate.
Oh, it's an analogy describing our situation in respect to a frog in the well, apparently i'm not comparing the intelligence of a frog to that of us brilliant humans. -

It's only because they believe their God created all this, and no other thing is as capable.

It's futile to discuss whether religion or science is more correct.
Even bacteria are magnificient. Simple operons gene cluster with can be repressed or induced by effectors. Disruption or activation of operator as RNA polymerase binds or not, to promoter.
It can be that, God created the biology of all living things, or a system for living things to continuously adapt.
Or the laws of thermodynamics created the universe, and life is an advancement of biochemistry. -

I just wanted to find out if by being an atheist it means that you are being anti religion? I just wanted to know what comes to people's mind first when they think of atheist.

Don't understand why you are so angry, but I just want to say a few things.
I was a clerk in army, and when filling the personal dockets for all our people, whenever the person did not have a particular religion like Buddhist, Taoist or anything like that, we had to put free-thinker. Maybe SAF's definition of free-thinker is wrong, but since then I always had the concept that a free-thinker is someone without a religion. I've read through your link and the impression that I get is that there are different types of atheists, and that an atheist doesn't necessarily have to be against any religion. I did not open this topic to talk about how the earth was created and who is wrong or right regarding that. I just wanted a better understanding of what an atheist is so I don't wrongly tell people what I am.

Theism is the belief in one God as the creator and ruler of the universe, without rejection of revelation.
An atheist is someone who do not believe that there is one true God. Note that the word a + theist = atheist. (something like atypical which is the opposite of typical)
A theist is someone who believes in One true God
An atheist is someone who does not.
You have to be very clear. You cannot use the statement that i'm Atheist when you are just trying to say that you do not believe in deism. It is specifically for anti-theism.
In this case, yes, to a certain extent an atheist is opposing the belief of one true God. -
If you're the don't care, bo chup about religion issues, bo chup about the existence of God/Goddesses/Whatever - then it is better to tell people that you're just an Agnostic. At least you are known as the "don't know, don't care" than being "i'm against what you believe in" Atheist
