Lol. Neither egg nor chicken came first, how you define chicken is relative and subjective. I don't know how to really explain to you, but "the chicken egg or the chicken" does not pop out ex nihilo - it is a gradual evolutionary process from chicken-look alike ancestors.Originally posted by allentyb:So who the HELL, create this god damn universe or earth, and who create man or woman? can you please you enlighten me, O almighty TS

First of all.
I did wiki and read through the whole meaning of this Atheism,

True, True.
But no one can answer the question on what comes [b]before the big bang.

This is a real classic.Originally posted by january:atheism is correct belief system because there is no compelling evidence for the existence of god.
i know those believer will have lots of evidence but their reasoning and logic system operate on different wavelength.
we cannot prove 100% that there is no god because proof is a very demanding process. but we can say 99% there is no so the best option is to not believe in it.
Hahaha~ Big Bang Theory is actually based on the thermodynamic laws - which are pretty accurate and in coherence with the natural laws of the world. But we are actually assuming that the natural law are universal across the universe (assuming that apple drops down in presence of gravity, heat dissipate over time, all those stuff in Galaxy SgForums, Galaxy Whatever You Wanna Name It) so as to make this judgment. We do not actually know if the natural law changes at different regions of the universe.Originally posted by Bontakun:Aiyah, all these are speculations from our fellow humans. But nevertheless Big Bang Theory is the most sound and recognized one - base on our deductive reasoning and interpretation from the natural laws we all obey on Earth and within our observation capability...
poor analogy. a frog is not able to study his environment like human. let me tell you, all atheist would really prefer to have a good god actually i believe. however, there has been no evidence that build up to the credibility of gods existence.Originally posted by AugoeideS:This is a real classic.
Imagine that you're a frog in a well.
To you, the world is the sky which you can peer up to, the walls around you, and the water you dwell in.
By no prior knowledge, or whatsoever, you can make a sound assumption that the world is made up of the sky, the walls, and the water - it fits perfectly fine because there are no compelling evidence of any other things that makes up the world.
We are the frog in the well when it comes to viewing the universe and beyond. You could readily disprove the existence of God just by trusting the compelling evidence you have, but i would hold back my statement for there is still much for humanity to learn about the bigger world out there.
Lol. I stopped at your 1st sentence.Originally posted by january:poor analogy. a frog is not able to study his environment like human. let me tell you, all atheist would really prefer to have a good god actually i believe. however, there has been no evidence that build up to the credibility of gods existence.
assume there is a GOD, we still have to really figure out what are we supposed to do with him. what are his instructions, what are his intentions. atheist cannot prove to you that there is no GOD or creator, but there is no logical evidence at the moment to say that there is one.
so we must live our life based on the belief that there is no god and we just continue to explore the nature to see how we can find more useful knowledge. if god exist and he is willing to drop evidence such that most of the scientist are convinced of him, then we shall then start to learn what the heck he wants to tell us, or what he is up to.
till then, we just have to depend on science and philosophy to find new knowledge.

Do you have ample evidence to support your claim that the computer would NOT explode in front of your face right now?

My point of view: being atheist is not anti-religious. Its just haven't found a reason to believe in God. I was a clerk in army, and when filling the personal dockets for all our people, whenever the person did not have a particular religion like Buddhist, Taoist or anything like that, we had to put free-thinker. Maybe SAF's definition of free-thinker is wrong, but since then I always had the concept that a free-thinker is someone without a religion. I only wanted to go one step further to specify that I don't believe in Gods/deities/spirits.Originally posted by allentyb:So what do u believe in? Are you trying to tell me that jesus christ is not son of god but merely a mortal, since you don't believe in god, if u say that u are Jehovah witness, i might actually believe you, the ironic is first, u mention that u are an antheist, then u change your mind to become free thinker, so what are u?
So who the HELL, create this god damn universe or earth, and who create man or woman? can you please you enlighten me, O almighty TSI've read through your link and the impression that I get is that there are different types of atheists, and that an atheist doesn't necessarily have to be against any religion. I did not open this topic to talk about how the earth was created and who is wrong or right regarding that. I just wanted a better understanding of what an atheist is so I don't wrongly tell people what I am.

Ok, i tell you what lah.Originally posted by Insomic:I don't really want people to start arguing here, but can I just confirm whether an atheist has to be someone who opposes religion before being called an atheist? Not even asking for someone to tell me if atheism is right or wrong, just to confirm certain things about what an atheist is or isn't.
