Oops, why I say this is becos I have come across many many nasty, arrogant, egoistic drs (most of them from NUS). Physics - useful if you want to be a radiation oncologist or an orthopaedic surgeon -

I do apologise for that . I was frankly thinking more in terms of Graduate Medical schools in USA , UK and Australia aka MCAT and Gamsat test. Their emphasis on chem/bio with very basic physics from experience.
MCAT has physics questions but they are lean more to O level than A level - easy to pass. Gamsat has less physics questions but still easy to get plow through. This is even though I never taken physics at A level.
So if you want to use the jc route, I am not the person for it. If you want to use the graduate school method - I can tell you what they expect for the australian system. -
It would be good if you are able to do an attachment in local hospitals. Just spend 2 to 3 mths there, but of course, you will need to "pull strings" to get in, eg. knowing whichever doctor who can recommend you to be attached to hospital to see how things work and such. Sometimes, we will see a couple of JC students snooping around in hospitals. Hope that helps too.

For A level, Physics and Chemistry is very important.
NUS medical student intake is about 230 each year, have to undergo interviews before been selected.
Singapore has setup a second medical school (DUKE-NUS GMS).
If you wanna study medicine overseas and practice in Singapore, please make sure your qualification is accepted here. Check out the List of the Medical Schools.
p/s: Studying medicine is not cheap... lots of toil and snare as medical trainee...

It is John Hopkins University. They have been the best for quite the while in medicine and it is harder to get in than Harvard. Plus I think they do negative marking there for certain subjects from what I heard ; aka 1 point for right answer , 0 for no answer and -3 for wrong answers. -

attachment might seems fun but not when you work as a medical officer. their work can be very demanding and stressing, especially long shift. -

plus you will pass by the period of making relationships with the opposite sex by studying your MBBS.

frankly, once u get into med sch, 90% of your chem and bio from A levels becomes completely USELESS. 95% of phy too. those r really just to get u into med school.
u really start from scratch. also, different med schls hv different teachin pratices, so its hard to say if ur subjects will give u an advantage, if any. also, yeah, johns hopkins is the best med sch in the world. doctors from there r all rounders, to them, an MBA is just another piece of paper on the wall. they all have it. that's how crazy it is.
