i remember it is something like 80%= poly results 20%= o levels result -
if i'm not wrong...if your raw score is above 20, even if u have bonus to keep it below 20, u'll still not be eligible for jc

Dont do it ...GP is harder than what you think
and I do not even dare think of JC when my points are 15 for poly and 19 for JC

but regarding uni admission, its a true fact that more places are reserved for the jc lot.
and not forgetting the jc batch is much smaller than the poly batch. -

IMO, going to JC is like taking a gamble. If u fail GP, it is quite confirm u wasted 2 years of ur time. GP is not easy

not true! my senior's friend was once i the same predicament. Had bad results for Os but did not gve up and manage to enter into a JC. What makes you think so? As others have pointed out, if you don't get into Uni, you are definitely worse off. A JC leaving cert is not worth the paper it's written on. A poly diploma will land you a job.Originally posted by snop_coolz:cos poly is not gonna land me a high paying job...
If you do well in the system of the teaching in poly and do well there, you can get into uni after that. Poly grads who do well enough to get into NTU regularly top the class in Uni.
Finally, between a fresh poly grad and a fresh uni grad, I would rather employ a poly grade and train him/her up. If I like the worker, I would rather pay a poly grad the pay of a Uni grad. He will be grateful for the higher pay and is more likely to stay with me. If I employ a Uni grad for the same salary, he will be tempted if someone offers him a hundred dollars more.
Go to JC only if you are sure you can get into Uni and you have in mind a professional job that the poly grad cannot compete in. -

A high paying job is not always the best thing that happened to you . You need to at least have some interest in your work and enjoy it or else you will not perform at your best.
Poly graduates may not be the best paid but A level grads are paid worst if they fail to get into university. After poly , you still have a chance at university -local and overseas with the delightful exemptions they give you. Once you go to university, being from poly or jc matters no more. It is your degree they look at.

dun go JC...
with ur grades, it would be difficult for u to cope, or rather, dey wont even allow u to go JC in the first place. MOE has set this criteria very clearly due to the very competitve and stressing environment inside dere..
why not try MI if u wish to do A level? an extra year helps a lot.... or u go poly, it is gd too~~
to TS: ur grade actually can land u in not-so-bad courses in poly....dun stereotype poly, as u will be surprised......open ur options up... -
It's not whether you want to, it's whether you can?
And a raw score of 21, aka blackjack, would not allow you into JC. And if you do manage into at least a YJC or a SRJC, chances of surviving there (by looking at your subjects taken), you could only take limited number of subjects.
So best thing is, take the poly route. If you do well enough, you would still go into a U, and you'll just incur a net loss of only half a year (since you will be granted 5 modules off in Uni.) -
As a Jc student, I advise you, don't go jc unless you're really determined.
If you are, you can try appealing.
even though they say Jc is a new start, can simply work hard.
I tell you the foundation at o's is important because that was your attitude.
If your attitude at o's got you 21 points.
Then if you don't change, a's levels gonna be much worse.
anyway to appeal, choose the jc you want for first choice! be realistic.
won't get in but the first choice is there.
after the posting results are out, go to the jc with the choice list, your o levels cert and testimonial.
talk to the principal about your interest in jc.
remember to show the first choice. ahhahaha

Im thinking of going into cjc, but is there any moe related programmes offered in there? And also, if i have a l1r5 of 12 points(without bonus points), is my chances of going in there high? -
