It is dangerous to argue for or against the use of the rod, without considering the character of the kid(s) concerned. I think its more important that even if you do cane your kids, you do it not out of anger, but out of a desire to make the kid into a better person.
you see kids running about in the MRT. most parents would just tell them to stop it. but how often do you see parents reasoning with them? telling them why is it inappropriate to run about in the MRT.
but i agree with the last part. one should not cane their kids out of anger. -

Another way is to make them stand in a corner.
Let them know why they are being punished.
For teens- no point using the cane.

i call it the kid being smart to prevent his bottom from getting whacked.

i will use the rod to discipline my child.. as i was discipline that way.
of course i will teach him the correct values too..

in my opinion:
there are many ways of disciplining, canes are just one physically way to discipline child.
one can be counselled, when i say counselling, it does not include scolding, questioning, defamation of child or any physical punishment. i would rather the child be convinced rather than hating u but behaving well.....
teach them. nurture them.

Cause whenever she take out cane. I will go infront of her tell her.

Then i will bite myself until i bleed after she cane me.
