Phuket is mostly outdoor shopping. The stalls opens in the afternoon and closes around 11pm. Most people will chose to visit the surrounding islands and places of interest in the day and relax at the spa or go to the pubs to unwind at night.
I would need to know roughly how many days you would be there so I can give you a rough estimate. -
I heard the SPA there is very relaxing but still, people said they can see something in the beach during night..

Neh, trust me. I went there alone after the tsunami (around April). Got the pictures of the devastated Macdonalds and Banana disco, but I only saw the friendly smiles of the Thais. Oh I recommend the Simon Cabaret, not sure if it's still as entertaining as before, but it sure did entertain me and my friends.
It's a tranvestite cabaret but non kinky... with some slapstick humor thrown in for good measure. Remember to request for the front seats (specify that you want to be amongst the front 6 rows). If not wrong it costs 500 baht or 600baht?

i also plan to go to phuket to relaz.. tired of city life.. but i don noe what to do over there cos i am not a person who enjoy outdoor activities like diving etc... i prefer things like massage, spa, light shopping at the local markets, sightseeing.. any places to recommend? which hotel is affordable and gd?

haha!!i checked the "wo" newspaper saw that the package is $198,so after adding the tax....etc i decide to take the cheapest,a 3 star hotel!total $362 for 3 day 2 night!...so happy...
~4 stars, Holiday inn resort is good but expensive need $500++

~3 stars,the patong beach hotel $362
search the information from net and saw their facilities not bad...only not sure how much will be the spa ther... -
I've been to Patong beach hotel, really nice and chic. Libra, I lived there for a month last year. December.
FYI, phuket is purely a tourist island. Its existed purely to chop tourist.
The islands are beautiful. But unless you pay, you wont be getting into a boat to get to them. Or you can just be at the beach and gaze and relax at those lovely sands.
If you stay at the mainland, you can try those eco tours or the Simon Caberet Shows. its expensive but worth it. Or you can sit at the various bars at Patong Beach and see how the guys goes to sian the Thai Girls at the bar.
And there is a large shopping centre there called "Central Mall".
But to buy really cheap stuffs, you need to be able to speak Thai fluently and find your way to the locals night markets.
FYI, the night markets is more then a pasar malam. Its really a market where folks sells meats, veggies & clothings. The heels you see at Charles & keith are sold for about 99baht to the locals.
Try S$1/- equals to 22 baht. So 100 baht is roughly S$4.50/-
And always keep 500 baht hidden away. You need to give that as Customer Service Charge at the Airport before you depart.
In other Words: DIE DIE RESERVE 500baht per person to pay at the counter (besides the departure gate) at the airport! -

They exist to reap monies off folks that cant speak thai. Their services are like what our commercial spas are charging back in singapore.
For true Thai Massages, you are better off going into a actual chinese sinseh tuina shop, if you can find one, which technically you wont.
Or those massages by the local blinds. Which is oout of your way if you are going there as a tourist, most likely you will be at Patong Beach. Its located at a row of shophouse near to Koh SiRe.
For the beaches, there is roaming massage girls, where you sit at the reclining beach chairs and they will come over and give you a foot massage while you relax. -
Phuket isnt unspoilt.
Its a tourist island.
And hotels are plenty.
Would you need a 5 star hotel if you are going to be roaming the islands all day? Your luggage need the 5 star hotel?
For shopping, go Bangkok.
For Spas, go Bali.
For Scuba, go only if you got the Open Water Padi Licence & go with yoru dive group.
For eco tours, ridng elephants on mainland will be good enough.
For exploring the islands. Unless you really can canoe. Your arms has to be strong.
For the food, unless you got a local there, with at least a vehicle to bring you to the eat all you can local buffet for 100 baht. And you can eat all you can the seafoods, thai style & drink those cheaper then Singapore Whisky & Beers.
Or you are daring enough and rent a small kup kia and ride around to the temples and explore the island. its roughly the size of Singapore island, without the Woodlands part. And the beaches is beautiful...if you manage to find them.
Otherwise, stick near to your hotel and brings a good book and a sunscreen to laze at the beach nearby. -
