What exactly is an 'average' family in Singapore? Stats like that are no use to me (at least) unless u can relate to it. Instead of measuring against that number I think each one of us has to consider our own circumstances... A family with 2 working parents of about 10+ years exp each should be able to fetch that amount even if they are not degree holders. A young grad couple with less than 5 years' exp should be able to fetch about 5K combined i think.. correct me if i'm wrong.
btw im a postgrad with about 3 yrs working exp and wifey-to-be is a grad working in a job that requires only O levels... we get about 6K++ monthly already.

but however i guess your expenses is also very high rite, i have a frenz earning 10k per month but somehow he still own the banks a few thousand,which mean money is never enough for rich but not so rich people.hope u didnt fall into the category. -

Nope.. im paying for a 4rm flat + bills etc. Don't own a car, do not intend to buy one... we hardly shop much cept spend on meals (hawker food mostly tho). and i think at 5k a month you can survive for sure but prob not much luxuries and if you buy a car i'm guessing little or no savings -

So $800 might be sufficient for some,minus off no facial treatment monthly, no fanciful hp, no luxuries meals..
$3000 might not be enough if u need to go for a mid size car, shopping @ paragon, meals at Swenson..
So understand that money can be very flexible depend on how u spend it. -
