im glad that ur family really so much..i guess you belong to the middle class group.CongratsOriginally posted by fatslob:What exactly is an 'average' family in Singapore? Stats like that are no use to me (at least) unless u can relate to it. Instead of measuring against that number I think each one of us has to consider our own circumstances... A family with 2 working parents of about 10+ years exp each should be able to fetch that amount even if they are not degree holders. A young grad couple with less than 5 years' exp should be able to fetch about 5K combined i think.. correct me if i'm wrong.
btw im a postgrad with about 3 yrs working exp and wifey-to-be is a grad working in a job that requires only O levels... we get about 6K++ monthly already.![]()
what job is that?Originally posted by fatslob:and wifey-to-be is a grad working in a job that requires only O levels... we get about 6K++ monthly already.![]()

actually the grad couple thingy might be true but you would realise that thats if they have a job. with retrenchment and unemployment common, it may notbe the case for the next few years.Originally posted by fatslob:What exactly is an 'average' family in Singapore? Not surprising coz $3200 for 4 people is reallyOriginally posted by dark_snowboy:household monthly income is $3200...for 4 of us
however, its still not enough, for what reason? i dont know![]()
not really, considering our monthly expense isn't quite high..Originally posted by elindra:Not surprising coz $3200 for 4 people is really![]()
You have to factor in stuff like insurance etcOriginally posted by dark_snowboy:not really, considering our monthly expense isn't quite high..
ok, maybe its my allowance thats pathetic![]()
Even without stuff like insurance, $3200/4 = $800 person is considered low.Originally posted by elindra:You have to factor in stuff like insurance etc
I'm thinking along the lines of a family of 4 surviving on 1k a monthOriginally posted by blu_sky:Even without stuff like insurance, $3200/4 = $800 person is considered low.
Same here. my monthly fixed commitment already exceeds $800, and that is not inclusive of necessities like food and skin care yetOriginally posted by elindra:I'm thinking along the lines of a family of 4 surviving on 1k a month
I can't survive on $800 a month personally though
