Conned of $450 by girl asking for help...what to do?

hi i kena the same girl also,she added me from wholivesnearyou.com
the foto she put there was quite pretty
anways she added me on msn n told shes from HK, the mom jus gone n dad missing, landlord chasing her out by 9.30pm if she dosent pay
say sg guys are hopeless n all, she is still waiting for the right guy to pop by, sounds super tempting eh
she even go on to say sg guys are darn evil, cos all are asking in exchange for her body n blah blah
although i consider myself streetwise, i mus say she sound damn convincing, she was pleading with me for 2 hrs
she even said she allow me to keep her passport, or if i have friend in the police force can bring him along n screen her on the spot, can sign IOU also
although i was quite convinced because she offer me to let her keep her passport until she return
but to me the basic rule still applies, stranger and money dun come together... who knows after i meet her she claims molest or wad n blackmail money
i dunno if u report police theres going to be any use or not, because u gave her the money willingly n theres no recorded money transaction but nevertheless pop by the npc n seek their advice la

this is a good thread i must say. brazen isn't dumb or what. he's just sharing his experience here. so if u guys meet the same situation, try to tell brazen.
maybe can lure him/her out then report police.

Wah rao eh please la people - 'She' (to me it's obviously a guy) is faking an identity using her picture. The actual identity of this girl is a taiwanese and her name is Yuri. She is also part of a cheerleading group called MYRS and their group appeared in taiwanese variety shows a few times le.
And personally, she even appeared as a candidate on Guess Guess Guess in one of the show segment.

Best to report the police since it's appears that u are not the first victim. This is con case and the police can help u. Gather as much evidence as possible including the email account, sites, msn, picture, ur chat log with her, others ppl contacts who are also targetted victims (successful or unsuccessful) and are willing vouch ur statement etc. Consolidate and print out and bring to the police station.
The course of action by the police may not be as fast as u desire and a civil suit would be alternative course of action. Be prepared to loose even more money but it's justice paid that will put you more at ease with yourself for your past stupidity. Nonetheless, I think u are likely to win the case if u are able to track the actual person.
My hunch tells me he is probably a guy and could be non local. -

since you sent money into the bank account, you can report to the cops...they will trace it through the bank....since there are others he or she is trying to scam, it's basically an online fraud....chargeable offence...

Most prob you got to know her thru WLNY or friendster...
I know this Cindy too and she did asked for loan from me....
In the end, when I insist to meet her in person before lending, she just disappear, snesing that she cant cheat me...
But sad case is my friend ganna n have made a police report...
