Apparently I'm not, Bahasa Melayu Pasar is the everyday Malay you hear on the streets. Widely used in movies and TV and have been in existence since God-knows-when. Every single Malay speaks in Bahasa Melayu Pasar.Originally posted by laurence82:see what i meant by mangling the language![]()

Cikgu Muhammad Ariff Ahmad and Za'aba would have protested the use of Bahasa Melayu Pasar if it does 'mangled' the beauty of Bahasa Melayu.![]()

On a side note, Bahasa Melayu Pasar is officially a dialect of Bahasa Melayu.
But its seriously understudied, and there were little advances in the development of the languageOriginally posted by Short Ninja:Even languages go through some sort of linguistic evoluiton. The Bahasa Melayu we are talking about here is the Malay language spoken in the Malacca sultanate hundreds of years ago right?

two distinct types of bahasa Melayu in Peninsula Malaysia are pattani Malay which is also spoken in southern thailand & in the Northern states except for kedah and the johor-riau Malay which is more familiar to the rest of Malaysia,Kalimantan,Brunei SIngapore, main land riau in Sumatra and riau islands like batam,bintan,karimun.......Tanjung pinang.I have no idea why the thais called the language of Pattani Malays Yawi which is the thai mispronunciation for jawi ( the letter J in thai is always replace by the letter Y)Originally posted by XTransbus:gi mampos sua.......
Lemme clarify
There is no such thing as spoken Jawi
You can read Jawi which is Mahasa Melayu
In other words Bahasa melayu written in Jawi form
The difference is only how it is written
Bahasa Melayu also have several different dialects such especially from Malaysia
If you notice, ppl from Perak speak differently from people from Malacca
They pronounce some words differently
Bahasa Indonesia is also totally different and also have different dialects
Jawa is different from Jawi
Jawa is a dilect while Jawi is how you write bahasa melayu
Usually the 'waks' like to use them
i can speak in all dilects from Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia
I can also read and write both Jawi and arabic well
total ownage
