I believe that sometimes we have no choice to defend ourselves or our own kind from animals who wish to attack us , like a mad dog mauling a child, and in doing so may cause injury or death to the animal.
I also believe that in killing an animal or procuring a product from an animal for food, the method of killing or process of procurement must be humane .
I believe that nature made us omnivores but I do not believe that nature meant us to be cruel to all its other creatures for leisure. If you do not share a love for animals , it is ok to be that way but it does not mean you act cruelly to them just because to show that you can .
Yes I am selfish because I need to survive but that does not mean I go around smacking or torturing poor animals for the sake of fun and has no bearing on my need to survive.
Even a lioness kills an adequate share of food for her pride and never more than what is required. -

Totally true. I always find it hypocritical when some pretentious Westerners point fingers at Asians feedings on dog meat. They think that dogs are not edible animals. At the same time they consume the largest percentage of meat and diary products in the world. But who is making the distinction between pets and edible animals? Them! They are imposing their standards on everyone else!
