She's taken up the cancer sticks for 2 reasons... with peers or as an escape.
Smoking becuase her friends do it is the most common and the easiest to get out of. As long as they're smart enuf to grow outta the phase. The latter is much worst which was partly the reason 4 me. Find out her reasons, spec ure a brother, try not 2 go 2 ur parents, it'll only make things worst.
If its peers, encourage her to stop and verbally acknowledge to her that you don't like her doing it and that you feel its a phase of life. The latter is the more serious 1 where uve gotta go deeper which may involve ALOT of things. So i other words... sit down n talk 2 her bout it

You can get one of those nicotine stickers... those that slowly release nicotine into the bloodstream via the skin.. that is if she is addicted to smoking lah...

If you're on good terms with your sis, may I suggest asking her directly the cause of her smoking habit? Then from there try ways to rectify the solution lo... maybe can just talk her out of it also..

He only turning 17 this yr,at least your sister is studying in JC,mine already quit his secondary school at home doing nothing for a year already,smoke everyday,really wonder why do youngster want to smoke,it smell awful,it bad for health and waste of money.Does it make them being older and mature by smoking?????or cool??i really don't know why
My parents did reduce his allowances,he end up borrowing from his friend and after an agurement when my mum nag at him for smoking ,he stay at his friend house without telling us.
Now my dad,mum and myself just hope that he don't create trouble outside,lower the expectation liao,hopefully he grow old he will know how to think,sigh.
And not trying to be baised towards girls who smoke,but i think most guys(non-smokers)will not want to have a girlfriend,wife who smoke,it bad for their health and may even affect their pregrancy if we look far. -

not much you can do... it is her choice... she will have to suffer the consequences.. read up everything you can on how to quit smoking and one day, hopefully soon, she might ask you how to quit... the decision is hers and not yours...

It may be due to many reasons like stress etc.
