Anyway, many of us, including myself have sunk roots elsewhere, Sillypore was good while it lasted.....its all downhill from here man...Adios -

I wouldn't say that i'm proud to be part of Singapore but having lived in the US & various countries, i only like the low cost of living & low crime rate.
Thats about it.
And honestly whats there to be proud about? Airport? Sure its nice but i've been flying out in and out so much its become nothing but a glorified bus interchange in my eyes.
And the fact that we have a half lion half fish mascot isn't exactly helping. -

Yeah man, low cost of living????...income tax and GST may be low relative to other countries but the gahmen here taxes you in other places, a little here and a little there adds up to alot.
Besides, the wages here are low compared to other countries and after visiting so many places and now settling down in north america....I'd say...I many be born in Sillypore but I sure as hell do not want to die in Sillypore....

Houses maybe cheaper but you can't own one if you are a foreigner without a green card. so Renting is the only option
in LA rent is usually USD$1.2K a month in a suburb area
in NY rent is as high as USD$2K a month as most of NY is a CBD area
3rd Factor
Food is relatively more expensive. You can eat fast food (cheapest) everyday.
But would you? Plus Variety is almost non exsistant.
4th Factor
Petrol cost 50% up to 120% more to what we pay locally. Cars maybe cheap but if you are there long term. Petrol really eats your money plus there is alot of driving to do as most places there are pretty far apart.

I only like living in Singapore as we're still pretty affordable for a country thats no longer on the 3rd world list. -
Sillypore may be cheaper but to live here long term is suicidal...
Things may be expensive in the States, but then again....if you live not in the cities, then it get slightly cheaper......live in the towns....
US will be a great place for people who are more country boys, who like the surroundings, mountains.....lakes etc.....I therefore urge anyone to leave Sillypore if they like the country living... -

Standard of Living vs Cost of Living
Even though govt got alot of tax and BS
You have to admit standard of living here is pretty good when you compare to our neighbours. We may not be as affordable as them but seeing our standard of living i'd say its pretty good.
Yeah its true living in the rural country in the US is far cheaper. But ultimately if you are non-white, its kinda hard to socialize. Its not that they are racist (actually got quite a number who are) but they tend to only stick to their own.
Staying anywhere has it pros and cons. -
singapore is a great country...alot of things is near to us..the only thing is...land is scarce..and population increasing..

Yeah staying anywhere has its pros and cons but all things taken into consideration, I'd say that there are more cons staying in Sillypore than elswhere...Of course I won't be comparing with our neighbors as that would mean Sillypore is the best...
Like it or not, Sillypore will be like HK in due course...6.5 million people....no way you gonna find me here man
Many of us like things far, the joy of driving to that place...wide open spaces....countryside, mountain ranges.....ahhhh the life
Look at Toronto, San Francisco, Vancouver, Perth, Brussels, Oxford, Melbourne.....these are more expensive places, but these are sure places I'd liek to raise our kids.....
you just have to read the papers and read in between the lines and see where Sillypore is going....not going to happen now but I'd give Sillypore 15 - 20 years....then you see society here going the way of most other nations.....not thinking of myself man but my future kids.....
Case in point, when there is no joy in studying and when RJC students here cry just because they got only 4 As........you know where I am getting at. -

No, because Singapore treats us like robots and not people. The top brass is more interested in making cold hard profits than preserving old things and places that our people can relate to. It ignores our voice.. it hates our Singlish.
We constantly knock down our priceless historical buildings to make way for things like car tunnels (with one extra ERP gantry). In 10 more years, there will be no old memory / place for us to cherish and remember.. just as with our parents.
We try to appear modern and cool, but beneath the surface there's not much substance to be proud of as a Nation. Economy-wise, we look "first world". But socially and on the ground, we are still very behind. This is not a home. It is a hotel. -

Democratic when they ignore the voices of so many on the casino issue. Can't imagine what singapore will be like in future with lee hsien loong being the pm.
