In the past, at least there's still some decent democracy. By the meaning of past, it's pre-1965.

Years ago, they knocked down the wet market at Thompson, in front of these private apartments near the MacRitchie reservoir.. this is despite alot of protest from the people around, coz it was heavily used.. until now, the land still empty.. dunno what they doing. Just bulldozing stuff as and when they please, no rhyme or reason. Maciam the whole country belong to them.
Then most of us live in HDBs.. we dun even own the flat we "bought". Nothing to pass onto our kids. They still have to pay and pay for a new flat.
Regarding the casino, they don't know what they're getting us into. Every time the govt comes up with a new policy or major change, if anything goes wrong it's the citizens' fault. Happen so many times liao. They're putting the citizens/country's future on the line while they play the ivory arm-chair strategists. But this ain't a game of chess..

Ok fair enough that Govt is very stupid in alot of actions
1. Raising GST to 7% after ShinCorp loss in Thailand
2. Knocking down buildings that are 100 yrs old and historic
3. Preserves old buildings by turning them into clubs & shopping center
3.1 CHIJMES
What would the nuns and priests who were alive then think when this CHURCH was converted into a night spot.
3.2 Majestic Cinema (Chinatown)
They turned this classic cinema into a souless shopping mall which has even crappy shops to begin with
3.3 Capitol Cinema (City Hall)
The last 2 tier opera style cinema closed a few years ago and has been sitting untouched since then. I used to love watching movies on this GINORMOUS screen.
3.4 old NLB building
I'm sure many old students have fond memories here
NOW ITS FRICKING GONE!
I could write down more but i can't think of any at the moment
So yes in that aspect even though what i said before i would still live to live overseas eventually simply because socially Singapore is weak. -
