for me, ANYBODY who are selling things or are claiming to be inspectors, i will juz wave my hand and ask dem get lost or say nt interested.
if dey claim dey are from HDB, i will ask dem for their particulars and call HDB first before i even talk to dem abt anything. it works, and i can say, it is ur first line of defence away from troubles. -

i am saying as a guy, because i noe ladies or the females are usually more "soft hearted". my mum usually will listen to these door to door sales man's talk, while if my dad sees one, he will juz shove dem away. but for me, sometimes i dun even give a damn and say "NO" no matter wad, coz from the stories i hear, it is really sickening to noe how sick dey are in conning pple's money. -

Just send this/these people off and not to fall into their trap. Usually the costs charge by these people are much much higher than the market price.
There is nothing the police or CASE or HDB can do. The said salesman had not violated any laws. Unless he claimed that he was from HDB when he was not, then it is another matter. -

So be careful of these kind of conman especially, because you cannot even call police to help you settle as they have not broken the law. Basically they are using psychological tricks. First they say they are repairing pipes or something, so you will feel secure and good about them. Then they pretend to be helpful and concern about your house well being, lastly they say this is a problem, your maid or whoever may fall down and i will do it for you cheap and it's really good, so you think you are getting a bargain. As always, don't be greedy and think rationally to avoid being conned. -
That is why sometimes I like how my mom deals with them . She slams the door in their face.
