ya when i was in poly some girls do this... they bring bring their court shoes to wear only during presentation... they after that they will change to slippers.Originally posted by despondent:yesterday in sch i saw a gal at the canteen having her lunch...she was in formal attire...as i walked past her table, i saw sth which was totally undesirable...she was wearing SLIPPERS!!!! n they were those kind u usually wear at hm...i was like oh man, how can she match professional attire wif slippers??? i can understand she did tat probably cos she wanted to make her feet feel comfortable but the entire physical image was unsightly...
i have nothing against changing out of formal wear after a formal presentation or a formal event...but surely it doesnt hurt much to remain in full formal for a few more hrs until she reached hm? even if she needed to change out of her shoes, then couldnt she bring a set of casual clothes to change as well? tis way wif casual clothes matching the slippers, she wun look so unsightly...seriously, i dunno if she even knew tat she looked horrible wearing slippers wif formal attire...i guess she didnt care at all...
my pt is if she cun even stay in full formal attire for half a day...how is she going to wear full formal attire in future when she comes out to work? working adults r required to wear formal for the entire day...if tis gal dun train herself nw, how she gonna tahan for an entire day in future?
I remember all poly females are required to attend some etiquette and attire dressing workshop to prepare them for work life.Originally posted by despondent:personally i feel tat smart office wear makes any woman look gd...however, the dressing muz be matching n appropriate...so far among the best i can find r those who work at HSBC level 1 in Dhoby Ghaut...tat kind of office wear is wad i call proper n professional...from wad i noe, slip-ons r nt allowed n all r expected to wear long-sleeved blouses or blazers everyday...
i came from biz studies in poly n i often wonder how the female students will ever get use to formal wear when they come out to work if they dun dress properly during formal presentation...yet there r some who dress realli professionally like real office executives...
the problem is also.Originally posted by despondent:i am nt saying tat everyone muz dress in tat manner...i am saying tat those who r required to dress formal to pls dress properly...i did mention in my earlier post tat i dun agree wif doing crazy things like dressing formal when u r nt required to...tats insanity...
the purpose of tis thread is to ask if comfort is more impt or looking professional is more impt...if there a need to dress professionally, which would u choose? to break the 'rules'' n dress down or to abide by the 'rules' n dress formally??? tats wad i wanna noe...cos i seen to many ppl choosing to break the 'rules' rather than abiding them...
I wear riding boots to work. I changed to mules at work. I change to comfy slippers when I need to stay in the office and climb up and down ladders to reach and bring down bulky heavy files.Originally posted by crabx:ya when i was in poly some girls do this... they bring bring their court shoes to wear only during presentation... they after that they will change to slippers.
coz they not used to wearing heels. usually its those tomboyish girls.
Is that professionalism itself?Originally posted by despondent:i noe wad professionalism is...its much more than juz dressing up like a professional...there r many other areas too...i used the word professionalism juz to simplify things...
it is?Originally posted by despondent:its part of professionalism...but professionalism itself is far more than tat...
Yalor. Different office has different culture. You will look rather out of place if you wear power suits in a software devt firm or a arts-oriented outfit where the dress code is more casual.Originally posted by FireIce:diff job scopes command diff dress codes
why are u so insistent tt every other OL must wear like ur fav HSBC staff?
