Quite common for girls to be rejected due to low iron
Like others said, try to build up iron levels before going for donations
Eat stuff like leafy veg, anchovies, pork/beef livers
Try not to take those iron tabs... Can give u constipation...

for those who're scared of needles or the process of donating blood (or are maybe just reluctant to take a trip down to HSA)...
it's understandable since so many ppl have phobias of some kind (and everyone is busy).
nevertheless blood can only be kept for a limited duration (42 days or so) so a constant supply of readily available blood is needed all e time.
you might also be interested to know that a single pack of whole blood is usually split into a few usable products:
red cell concentrates (for the 'normal' blood transfusions);
platelets; and
fresh frozen plasma or cryoprecipitate (helps with ppl with blood clotting problems).
possibly other products which i can't really think of right now.
in short, a single donation might help up to maybe 3 ppl?
so if u're healthy, not a hep b carrier or have other medical issues, do think about donating if u can.
(you can always just look away from the area they're inserting the needle into.

Donating blood wont make you gain weight at all.
In fact its good because it helps your body to get rid of old red blood cells and generate new red blood cells -

wat if the person who wanna donate got aids? will the blood test people be able to test on the spot when the do the fingertip prick test?

ZzzZzzZZZZ im feeling weak against after seeing the word blood...
i can still remember a few years back , when they held the blood donation on that very day, i saw a teenage guy screaming in pain while his blood transfer over to a new pack. OMG, i dont want to say anymore.. aww

Da only pain comes from da needle injection to numb the area. The large needle after dat... no feeling...
