Singaporean Teens

Being a teenager myself and having experienced life in different cultures, I have come to notice an undeniable fact - that Singaporean teens are some of the most well-behaved. In almost any other country teens do drugs, have underage sex, drink alcohol and smoke. Yet none of this happens at secondary schools in Singapore yet in Australia it would be extremely unusual to find a school whose students don't do these things. Whereas in Singapore all that teens are concerned are about their exams all they seem to do is study, study and study some more. Perhaps it's the extremely strict Singaporean laws or the general lifestyle here but your opinions would be much appreciated thanks.

Hmm... neighbourhood schools wise... if you mix with the right group, generally you won't see such things.
With the wrong group, we are in fact no different from them.

Yes that is indeed the case with probably every school on the planet but my point is that the things I have mentioned occur significantly far less than most countries. I would be hard pressed to find a single 15 year old Singaporean who has done drugs, smoked a cig or gotten drunk. However, if you are to talk about beer or cigarettes, then I welcome you to Singapore. No matter how strict we are, both of these will land in their hands.
Majority will say they have done none, but have in fact done at least 1 of the three. Only a minority have done none.
Just come to my neighbourhood in Ang Mo Kio and loiter around, you will be bound to find some smoking or drinking, blatantly in their school uniforms.
We aren't what we seem, that's for sure. -

And they do take drugs, in extreme rare cases.

yup, i agree that singaporean youths are doing more drugs, more porn, more smoking, more fighting, more drinking and other supposed vices.
apparently that's called globalisation and it's the same reason the Ministers are using to substaniate their pay increments.
But I digress..
However I don't think for drugs, prostitution and armed robbery... these are not as widespread as other neighbouring nations. You've got to attribute it to social factors...i still feel as a whole our teens are doing pretty 'decent' things.
But of course smoking, drinking, fighting and what not... that's common in sg. -
