teachers by their names

it's interesting how things change as we grow, for instance, when we were in primary school, we were taught to bow and greet techers audibly by mr/mrs/mdm/ms whatever. i guess not many will bother to defy. up till secondary school, it's really interesting to observe, students just walk past the teachers. no, we no longer greet them unless it's the start or the end of the lesson. and incredibly, when we talk about teachers in our own private conversation, it's just their surnames that appear. or better still, their FULL name with an honourable additional nickname-for-the-fun of it. has anyone realised? secondary school teachers and above educators have lost the first address before their surname. is it just my school or do others do that too? bet the teachers can't care two frucks about it.

my sec 4 form teacher always say students who call him by his name will never pass their o lvls or something like that.
i call him deric low and i failed mine.

there shouldn't be a gap between them...both shld respect each other.

Even now in uni.. i still greet my prof as sir. or Prof somehting..
why should secondary sch be any different.?
it's called respect for someone senior.. and u learn it in sch.. so there shouldn't be a gap. teachers should maintain their relationship with their student as teacher students only as well. -

I'm on first name terms with some of the lecturers, but for Deans and all, I usually will still address them Prof XXX.

since my time, (ok la not very long ago.. ) my teachers already told us to address them by their names. I think it's bcos the age gap is not that wide, and they wana be fren fren with their students, to make learning more enjoyable ba.

haha... last time in sec sch we address our teachers in miss, mdm, mr and etc.. but we still quite close with our teachers.. even can have them in our conversations, joke with them or wad so ever... haha.. happy memories then.. jus wish i can go back.. enjoy sec sch while u can.. it's the best ride in ur schooling life..

seriously, but i feel there shld be a distance between teachers and students, a sense of respect for our seniors, addressing them properly is juz an easy way out, but not the only way. -

is respect la to call them by mister something...if the teacher is ok with u calling their full name then its ok bah...otherwise abit disrespectful loh...but then mostly call by full name is coz alot of teacher same surname mah...otherwise how u want us to say?eh that mr chan hor then the other mr chan hor and the other other mr chan....
