Do you feel that it is harder to get into poly now?

Looking at the COP of 2006, many of the popular courses like Business and
Science.. need at least 15 pts and most of them is ranging from 11-14pts..
Does it mean that more and more students who are eligible to go JC, choose
to come to poly instead? their low pts made the COP of each year to
drop.. and made our choices very limited.
Do you think gov should look into this matter?
What if this continues, then 5 yrs ltr those who cant meet the COP will all have to study in private schools? -

yeah, it's definitely harder to get into poly now. thats why govt is trying to lvl ite to the same lvl as poly.

Qualifications does not equate to success. It's about hard work and talent.
Take for example Lim Goh Tong. He came to Malaysia from China as a poor young man, eventually worked and worked. Finally started his own small construction company, then while working at Cameroon Highlands, he had the crazy idea of building a mountain top casino resort. The name? Genting!
60 years after he arrived as a poor young man with little education, 40 years after setting up Genting, he's one of he richest people in the region.
My friend graduated from the then VI - Vocational Institution (now ITE) and after working up the career ladder, he has poly and even uni grads working under him. -
and even if u get 30+ points .. theres still RP .... no kidding!

i dare to say this:
in singapore, no matter which route u go, juz work hard n u make it to uni eventually. it is slow or fast nia.
fast:
6 years pri sch, 4 years sec sch, 2 years jc, den go uni.
total years needed (if dun count army for guys) = 12 years to make it to uni
medium:
6 years pri sch, 5 years sec sch (if u are in NA), 2 years JC (i noe v few pple from NA go JC one), den go uni.
total years needed (if dun count army for guys) = 13 years
if go poly, add one more year, which will be 14 years.
slow:
6 years of pri sch, 4 years of sec sch (if u are in NT), den 2 years nitec, den 2 more years higher nitec, den go poly 3 years, den uni.
total years needed (if dun count army for guys) = 17 years -

I went in ITE with 19 points. -
What to do?
If people with lower cut-off point wants to enter poly what can you do? Stop them? Force them to go to JC?
Its like rich man want go to Kopitiam eat. They go there take up the seats and eat there but then what to do? Force them must go restaurant eat ah?
Unless you can give a really good alternative, then perhaps the only way is to get better grades. Since everyone is improving then so must we. -
I reckon this is a very clear and early indication to the young ones that living in singapore is not a piece of pie as they will face similar tasks at hand when employed, so if you don't shape up, ship out.
