Is good english that important?when one another can understand from basic or mayb plain english..who marks a bad english language?

I think it is very important in the Singapore education system; because most subjects require an at least average command in English, and can you imagine trying to read a GP essay with shitty English?

A good command of any language is important. No point knowing them but unable to structure them properly and causing misunderstandings.
Whether to use a plain, simple English to communicate or having bombastic words in your essay, is your choice. As long as their usage is correct, it doesn't matter.
What matters, is to get the point across. A whole paragraph is not needed to explain a simple point. Neither are big words needed to shorten a sentence if nobody understands it. -
