I said asking you is easier... and you did not disappoint. That part makes sense. Faith and Morals are so subjective and if you want "direction" in life (personally I prefer "logic" in life) I guess to say that Ex Cathedra pronouncements must be taken as infallible make perfect sense.Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:Papal infallibility applies to matters of faith and morals when defined Ex Cathedra.
The Holy Father doesn't make infallible proclaimations that often. Maybe that's a good thing.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:I said asking you is easier... and you did not disappoint. Many people cannot reason properly and so clutching onto laws laid down by an authority deemed "infallible" might be the better alternative. If you are going to live life in an illusion, might as well live in a well established and "proven" illusion.
But like I say, I prefer reasoning to "laws" no matter how "infallible" the law maker is.
And so you think the Bible just came by fax from Heaven? I'm a Christian, and I don't believe that everything in it was written by God. The Bible is Man's interpretation and recording of God's word. Read again, MAN WROTE THE BIBLE. As such, it's not immune to the effects of little alterations and mistranslations. There's always a need for some skepticism when it comes to interpreting the works of Man.
the Bible is God's word. According to christians, God does not lie. by saying that the content of Genesis is false, are you stating that God is a liar?
I guess he doesn't want to be seen as trying to run people's lives... only to give them some guidance...Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:The Holy Father doesn't make infallible proclaimations that often. Maybe that's a good thing.
once you say that, while it is true, then there is the problem of who is right and who is wrong and which part to believe and which part to discard.... messy messy... RC with authoritative pronouncements seem better... The Pope says and everyone follows... voluntarily... sounds really good to me...Originally posted by SturmDerSchatten:And so you think the Bible just came by fax from Heaven? But still, if the basic faith is there, one should be able to tell when a decision is unwise.

No, you cannot say he's the silly one. He's a guru of this forum, you know!Originally posted by SturmDerSchatten:Maybe you're the silly one. Read your history first, can?
WWI wasn't started by Christians as a group, it was started by a young Serbian who shot the Archduke of Austria.
WWII wasn't started by Christians as a group; technically it was started by the Japanese after they invaded China in 1937. Or you could say the Germans did it in 1939.
The War on Terror was sparked off by the terrorists who attacked the U.S., and I don't remember them being Christians.
Go read up before you start making uneducated comments like these, ok? You sound exactly like Hitler who blamed all of Germany's problems then on the Jews.

In sg we must have a COE to buy a new car so likewise if you want to go to heaven you must have a COH (cert of heaven).Originally posted by rue:ya loh. oftern crap about going heaven and only christians can go heaven.. maybe bcus of the money they cheated thats why the got money for the adminssion into heaven.

Sorri har, the buddist monks and Taoist priests are expert in this trade.Originally posted by rue:Of cus they are smarter, thats why they got all sorts of dirty tricks to lure ppl to give them their money. Can brainwash ppl and cheat money. No smart how to do that. This pt must admit they smarter.
but God told man what to write.Well, there are always many ways to interpret the Bible, but there are some parts that don't agree very nicely, particularly that one where Jesus taught his followers to "turn the other cheek" instead of what was written in the Old Testament of "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth".
1) Did you know that the priests who wrote the Bible took it so seriously that if they made one single mistake on a page, they threw the whole page out and started all over again?
2) Did you know that the Bible is said to be the most historically accurate book in the world? though different people wrote it over a timespan of thousands of years, the stories and events recorded in it all 'agree' with each other.
hahahaha! pple like u start +1 topics n get urself pwnz. smart indeed!:-3Originally posted by laoda99:I appeal to all Christian brothers to stop posting in this thread. Let it die out just like that.
