Relax sg, jus look at all the past china & bollywood topics...
U can never be too sure who is who on the internet, nowsaday dun be surprised that any races or nationalities can understands and speak good mandarin. That doesn't mean anyone who keeps promoting about china stuffs in a forum confirm he or she is a PRC. Just ask ourselves why would someone keep spamming about bollywood or keep promoting about china in a Singapore forum, wat r their real intention???
...maybe it could be a local who hates PRC?... we wouldn't know.
I believe there are a number of 'spies'(extremists) in Sgforum. These 'spies' understands sg very well & often like to start an 'innocent lookin' racial topics & always end up in provocation. They are persistent, they dun reply to ur questions & just continue spam even if u flame em. They are jus toyin wif u like mayi -

I love Singapore, but I live in China, and I love it too. I will not lecture you guys 'cause I'm younger than all of you (I bet).
But ...
1) I understand that, to a certain extent, PRCs may not behave in a manner that you guys are comfortable with.
2) this characteristic is not applicable to all PRCs
3) There are black sheeps in every culture/nation (think about those people who play loud music on mrts, or those ladies who try to force their way into mrts before everyone else)
4) We should try to respect people as PEOPLE, despite their nationality
5) I understand that many people do not have a good impression of PRCs
6) please try to step into their shoes.

Ya true, they are helpful and willing to work hard. They are here on social visit pass only and not allowed to work here. well some of them are nice..think the ladies from china who come here as professional r not bad. But the guys when they started to get recognition from the company, they tends to be more pompous. especially those who can speak English and studied in NUS...lol...
I cant stand those who doesnt want to learn english though. Even at office they speak mandarin. When u talk to them on the phone in english, they will reply in mandarin..even when they know u r not chinese its annoying coz the singaporeans chinese will start conversing to them in mandarin ..and we all who is not chinese..dunno wtf is going on -
Ist I need to say I am Singaporean. Although I dun really like Chinaman, but some of the posts here are too extreme.
I do have a few frenz from China which I met in uni. They are quite ok.
I emhasis the words 'a few'. Most cmi. Their sheer number in Sg is really uncomfortable. Their high pitch Chinese accents make me feel sick.
But I think some of the posts went overboard. -

For students , our threat is they're extremely hardworking to the extend of having no life ,whole day oso study...making sg students look bad in own country
For workers , our threat is they willing to work for lesser salary , thus making our salaries 'competitive'
For the general , they are all some cheap@ss trying to reap the benefits of being a PR not citizens ,eg. no need to serve NS and receiving same amt of subsidies... -

Face it, it's the cultural incompatibility and the inordinately huge numbers of PRC nationals that hold assumptive attitudes about Singaporeans that is causing this schism. Not people like Campy.
When you cap a kettle, the steam will still come out, except not as a mist of steam, but something more.. -
China pple are cheap labour. If we dun reduce our wages we may not get a job at all. haiz.

Maybe if you interact more with PRC nationals, you will understand the meaning of my statement. I'm a Peranakan, and it's patronising and rude when a PRC national expects me to speak to him in Mandarin and think like him or her. -

what if they just arent confident with their english?
if you couldnt speak cantonese and you were in hk, wouldnt you try to speak to the hk people in chinese or english? (many of them can speak one of the two.) or would you try to stutter in cantonese (and have them guess at what you're saying)?
perhaps the PRCs believe that there will be a greater chance of people understanding what they're saying if they speak in chinese. afterall, its a common language, and quite a few people can speak it. -
