Fundamentally flawed, that is perhaps a semantic argument. I would agree that as a predictive model it is definitely sufficient for most purposes, so perhaps 'fundamental' was not the best word to use. I'm just peeved at how banzie only understands science as an antithesis of religious dogma, that being unquestionably 'perfect' was a pre-requisite for legitimizing any theory.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:To say fundamentally flawed is missing the point. Newton's laws works very well in describing reality and it works (able to predict correctly) much of what is happening around us.
Einstein's theory better describes "more" of reality (especially outer space) and you can use his theory to accurately predict "more" of "reality".
It does not matter whether EVOLUTION THEORY IS 'PERFECT' or not... you are right... but it is as good as it gets, for now... there is nothing else better at the moment... no matter what religious people want you to believe.
It is like, crossing the road at the pedestrian crossing when the "Green Man" is flashing is not perfect because a drunk driver might also knock you down...
Religious people then want you to run across the road blindly because crossing at the pedestrian crossing is not perfect...
hahaha I prefer to cross at the pedestrian crossing even if religious people tell me that it is not perfect...
You should tell them, so? You got anything better other than illusions and delusions and baseless assertions?Originally posted by fatslob:Yes, they r both flawed. How many times have we said that already?
but I see that you live in reality... good for you... all the best... some people cannot live in reality and they must cling on to illusions and delusions to survive... they need a savior or they are truly lost sheep, unable to think for themselves... leave them alone and simply pity them, that is all you can do.Originally posted by fatslob:btw, i suck at science.

were being formed...........
So much theory till today, it still remain a Q

Funny thing is, the more we learn, the more 'fantastic' and 'warped' reality becomes. Compared to string theory and singularities, religious texts seem awfully tame in comparison.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:but I see that you live in reality... good for you... all the best... some people cannot live in reality and they must cling on to illusions and delusions to survive... they need a savior or they are truly lost sheep, unable to think for themselves... leave them alone and simply pity them, that is all you can do.
Science is not a religion, stop making it sound like one. And I don't consider myself an atheist.Originally posted by banzie:Although fatslob theory sound convincing. but it may not be true. Isn't science about discovering what is right? Newton law works so it is right! Now the athetist playing with words? Is evolution the "right" thing? Still not able to be proven sorry.
Let's say I agree with you fully, that Evolution is wrong! But do you have anything better? Do you have something that can stand up to independent scrutiny? hahaha I submit that you don't. Evolution is as best as it gets for the moment because it explains many things and when you test it, it is correct in many ways...Originally posted by banzie:Is evolution the "right" thing? Try, "where does your consciousness reside?" That should give you enough of a headache!Originally posted by fatslob:Funny thing is, the more we learn, the more 'fantastic' and 'warped' reality becomes. Nope I'm not offering from the start till not that creationism is the theory. If you read through my posts. But my idea here is to let you people know that evolution is not the truth yet. So take the subject with cautious and knowing the theory and its weakness than what athetist would have people believe that it is the only theory existed.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:Let's say I agree with you fully, that Evolution is wrong! Sure, somebody might come up with a better Theory than Evolution... well tested and verified independently... and when that happens... we will all accept that...
just don't tell people to accept baseless beliefs... sure nobody is stopping you from having baseless beliefs, just don't impose your beliefs on others because they are simply... baseless beliefs.
Tell that to the athetist.Originally posted by Orange_Monster:I'm no expert in this field, but have smthg to say.
Prior to James Hutton, people and many scientists firmly believed that the age of the earth was only around 6000 years old. He was a person who thought out of his time.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Hutton,
And before that, there were people who firmly believed that the world was flat, and you would fall off if you went too far. It too was debunked by people who chose to challenge it.
Copernicus and Galileo both also were far ahead of their time in suggesting that the Sun is the centre of the Solar system and not the Earth. Galileo personally had a difficult time as his opinions were against the Church.
And now we come to the theory of evolution.
Is it possible that in the future, someone will add this to my mini-list and also say that,
"The theory of evoulution was another case which was hotly debated but proved right in the end"

And we are saying Evolution till now is our BEST GUESS. No one is saying it is an absolute truth.. the is NO ARGUMENT here!!!Originally posted by banzie:Nope I'm not offering from the start till not that creationism is the theory. Ignorance? And now you say it is the best guess? Read in page 3 or 4 what did I say and what did you all say. Now you all change to best guess already. So you all agree with me that there is a possibility that evolution is not the ultimate theory and it is a theory afterall. That evolution has its flaws... Atlas at last you had enlightened. hahahaOriginally posted by fatslob:And we are saying Evolution till now is our BEST GUESS. No one is saying it is an absolute truth.. the is NO ARGUMENT here!!!
We are only arguing because of how eager u r to totally discredit it, and that most of your arguments are borne out of ignorance rather than engaging in the real debate.
You don't get science as suggested by him and he is correct...Originally posted by banzie:Nope I'm not offering from the start till not that creationism is the theory. If you read through my posts. No.. YOU read my posts. I stated it was a best guess from the start and that flaws are perfectly acceptable and expected in science.Originally posted by banzie:Ignorance? well said...sometimes the church can be wrong but they still insist they are right..they have to be more open minded that not everything written in the bible is right...Both copernicus and galileo suffered a great deal because they happen to know the truth which was against conventional thinking..Originally posted by Orange_Monster:I'm no expert in this field, but have smthg to say.

Theory is always still a theory. Simple as that.. unless proven. I don't stick with evolution becoz it is not proven. I just viewed it as one of the explaination people offered. The fact is that most people don't take evolution as a theory. They took it as a truth because they do not know that the theory itself existed a number of flaws. I want everyone here that reads this from been misleaded by the athetist and look at things in a open mind to many other possibilities.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:You don't get science as suggested by him and he is correct...
It is not about right or wrong but about "this is as good as it gets". Unless you can come up with something better, something that can be independently verified, something that can be independently tested... you stick with Evolution... this is your best bet.
Quoting my first actual reply ^^Originally posted by fatslob:erm.. what u pointed out aren't flaws... they just highlight how little u actually know abt evolution theory...
'fraid to say, i wouldn't have called u ignorant if not for what u have posted above. But now... i believe that u r indeed ignorant about this topic.
Evolution theory does have flaws, but as a scientific theory, it is open to scrutiny and discussion.... come up with a better, verifiable theory, and evolution will be dumped.
Even within the Church, there are Christians that accept Evolution and those that do not... hahahaha there are people that are so blind and they are so in need of a savior to rescue them... I fear to think what would happen to them if they are not believers...Originally posted by Xtrider:well said...sometimes the church can be wrong but they still insist they are right..they have to be more open minded that not everything written in the bible is right...Both copernicus and galileo suffered a great deal because they happen to know the truth which was against conventional thinking..
Im not bashing christainity here...the same goes for other religions
Having faith is good..but having blind faith which distorts your views on the world...well..
The theory of evolution...is a theory because it is not 100% proven to be true. If is it, it will be called a LAW.. much like it is NEwton's LAW and not Newton's theory.
However, if scientist are able to find extraterrestrial liefe ( which looks increasingly possible with recent discoveries) then evolution can be proven rite. (I dun think anyone has ever mentioned before that god placed being on another planet)
