What to say to boss when resigning ah?

You know lah... usually bosses will ask why, and then tell you to stay lah, blah blah blah.
I am tendering my resignation. And this is shortly after my immediate superior served his last day. I am leaving for a much higher pay job, and not because my superior left.
But then, the General Manager sure gabra and will go very long winded with me one.
How ah? What should I say ah? I just wanna peacefully hand over to the next person and then leave. I dun want anybody to feel unhappy or what. -
My aspiration is calling for me.

Just tell him the cruel truth that you don't feel you have any prospect working there lor.

You should just be honest.
"I got another job offer which pays a higher salary and the jobscope is something I'm passionate about. I'm really thankful for the times I've been here and how the bosses took care of me........"
Along that line.
There's no point fabricating lies, telling them it's the sabbatical phase of your life and you're going to Tibet to learn what life is.
The ex boss might just happen to see you in your new company in the near future and that would really kill your credibility as a person and close some doors for you.
And the plus point, the GM might even offer a higher pay to retain you.
Think about it

I am quite good friend with the HR side. The HR manager told me that the GM will pester me like mad one, but die die won't counter offer. I can easily shut the GM up by telling him to F off, but then, I don't want things to be ugly. Maybe one day, I have to work with him (joint partnerships with his company etc) or what.

i rber the la kopi session i had with my ex-boss.....
we talked for 2hrs and had 2 smoke breaks......
he did most of the toking.....i jus listen and give the "i insist i wanna leave" face......
glad he oso understand.......
i was sad but i have to leave lah.......
my last day i din even get to see him....
but he sent me an sms to bade farewell and wish me luck.... -

it is really hard if your boss doesnt understand what "greener pasture" means and tries to make you stay but wont make a counter offer. I think you are right in leaving as he is certainly not worth working for.
just say your mind is made up (to quit, that is) and ask him not to be difficult. I know this is going to be like what I said b4 in some other forum "easier said than done!" so say it

May be just tell him you will let him know when you settle down on your job. This is what most people will say. Tender ur resignation few months earlier before u leave, depending on the company policy.
