LAN = Local Area Network
Meaning, if ur modem is providing internet for 2 or more computers in ur home then u have a local area network (lan). If u send files over just ur home network then speeds can reach theoretically upto 100Mbps.. -

I also received the purple letter that my 512 is upgraded, but I just renewed and upgrade my plan to 1500... speed is 3000 now... -
