It's not even a matter of whether to follow the law or not to follow the law.
Rather, it is whether one smoker is being considerate to other non-smokers in their surrounding. As non-smokers, we are vulnerable to passive smoke that comes out from cigarettes of those smokers. And scientifically proven, passive smoking is twice or three times more harmful than the cigarette smoke itself.
So.. i dun think it's right for smokers to just smoke on the spot. If want to smoke go somewhere secluded and smoke. don't affect others who don't smoke.

Right. The respect for fellow country man to have smoke free enviroment must be there. I don't smoke and I can't stand the smell of it. I hated it more when you are in the toilet minding your own business and the next cubicle will just light up. The combine smell is really a killer. Worst, some even have body odour and the 3 in 1 take it all. Once I bought along a bottle of insecticide and when the next cubicle light up, I started spraying. then next time most will take public transport because of the emission of hazardous smoke from cars n this caused future disallow etc ... or better still every1 needs to carry one
heavy duty oxygen tank whenever ur out of house >> save yourself from inhaling the air which consist of thousands particles >> or better still lock urself at home then ur safe ++++ how this sound for those very health conscious -
It's alright if you don't smoke but you don't have to be aggressive and anti-smoker. Singapore is big enough for smokers and non-smokers to live side by side. There are many areas where smoking is banned already. Why complain when smokers take to the staircase? Should they hang out in the corridors of HDB instead?
ANTI-SMOKER makes a hue and cry just because he bumps into some smokers when he chooses to take the stairs instead of the lift! He doesn't need to grow a prick. He is one! -

Maybe we can gather all the smokers in a tiny room and let them puff and breath in each other's smoke. Maybe they might understand why then.

More than often, we got into a lift fill with ciggi smell. I live at the highest floor and had to endure the smell all the way. I mean if the smoker have been more automatic, I think the complain will not arises . Afterall, like some one say, Singapore is big enough to accommodate smoker and non smoker alike. BUT the difference is the smoker " occupy " a bigger area because of the smoke ... got what I mean ?

after 9days dis thread re-lived again...
they gonna ban smokin in pubs n clubs dis comin july alr... whether u like it or not... i personally don't like it cos i'm a smoker... n wat other things happens in july? GST increase!!!
anyway... from wat i heard from my fren in aussie, he said there's clubs there dat ban smokin alr, so if he wanted to smoke, he had to go out n smoke, abit of a nuisance.
someday, singapore will b like army, everywhere got yellowbox, or even better, smokin bus station on the road.
as for the GST increase, i heard other countries has GST of up to 20+%? is dat true???

ban smoking in pubs n other closed entertainment venues are a right move..many big cities in the world already had it n the govt is just following it....japan even got mobile smoking buses for smokers to smoke in and spare non smokers some fresh airs...who knows, singapore might adopt it in few yrs time..
