the only reason i went for my uni grad ceremony was for my parents. otherwise its just a ceremony/ritual, no real importance to me. i would rather display my cert than my grad photo
Previous moment?Originally posted by 798:u only have once in a lifetime of wearing a gown n attending grad ceremony. treat it as an previous moment in ur life.
dun tell me after struggling this three years, u dun miss life in poly, your lecturers n your classmates at all?
how can K2 comparing wif rite now?Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Previous moment?
I'm not dead yet.
And I'm dead set against it.
Missing the life of poly is one thing, but will this really help?
As I've said, it's really nonsense. Waste time to come to school, listen to them talk crap for hours, waste the money to rent a gown which doesn't even fit me, waste the money to travel to school, waste the money to develop photos for keep sake.
And I've already worn a gown when I graduated from K2. Since I've worn it, been through it, no point going through again.
Once is enough.
My grades are average, not so bad.Originally posted by 798:how can K2 comparing wif rite now?
no offence, cos from my experience, only pple who failed to attend the ceremony r usually students who performed badly in their transcripts dat they r too ashamed to face their friends who did better than them.
else i dun think why no one will fail to even attend the ceremony. furthermore, ur parents r waiting for this day to see u achieving something.
handling the pressure wif the big crowd can be a good way of networking. get to chat wif your seniors n classmates for the last time, exchanging job-name cards. next time they may be of help to build up for your future need.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:My grades are average, not so bad.
For one thing, I just hate big crowds and listening to people who crap and quote from other people.
That's what ceremonies are doing, totally waste of time. What's going to be said has been said in primary school, secondary school, lectured by my cousins, lectured by my parents, and those who are more senior than me.
Very irritating you know.
And as for K2 comparing with now, about the same, except I don't recall if I receive any cert.
As for my parents waiting to see me achieving something, ya, I heard them. I tell them to wait a few months later to collect my cert. I'm not going to collect it in April next year, that's for sure.
I've had chance to work with big crowds. Nice experience, but I don't think I will ever want it again.Originally posted by 798:handling the pressure wif the big crowd can be a good way of networking. get to chat wif your seniors n classmates for the last time, exchanging job-name cards. next time they may be of help to build up for your future need.
i attended the ceremony two time. the first time was my own while the second time i was invited by my former lecturers to attend my juniors (some of them r my classmates in uni). i dun see the ceremony boring since i feel this important date was something we should be proud of our achievement in poly.
i'm sure if u attend, u will have dat special moment n thoughts which made u treasure the days u were in RP.
I share the same sentiments. It's very simple, for poly grad, if you are proud of yourself, then wear the gown and attend the ceremony. If you are so ashamed of your results then don't go.Originally posted by kakashi84:Tertiary college in The US allows student to wear gowns on their graduation ceremony When they recieve their diplomas. I fail to see the big hoo ha about the whole thing. My guess is that undergrad are just feeling bitter that dip holders can wear gowns on their graduation ceremony too. Why are they feeling insecure? afrid it will rub off the shine of their achievements?
Poly gowns dont have mortarboards,so its pretty easy to distinguish. Why dont they complain to MOE that kindergarden kids shldnt be allowed to wear gowns too?
TOTALLY agree.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:My grades are average, not so bad.
