That one was long time ago but now the Judge would say "Hang until you die" so how to escape?Originally posted by kalangkabo:i read somewhere that if the criminal doesn't die after the 1st execution attempt, he is set free?

the person kanna hang, the tongue will stick out long long and he will shit and pee in his pants. some even say will ejaculate.
Like to check with u, hv u ever know tat something is wrong yet u do it ? not everyone knows the law as well as u. Can list down all those tat will hv death penalty?Originally posted by jedditte:somehow this like become GP topic: for or against death penalty
imo i don't agree. they have been the scums of the society and w/o death penalty they will be leeching off the society again. taxpayers' money will be used to feed them.
come on. if you know the consequences then why commit the act in the first place? you pay for what you do. simple enough.
erm, know sth is wrong yet i do it? yes. that's in army.and now still am. the eighth golden army rule holds anyway. do but don't get caught. if you are caught, good luck.Originally posted by sun8:Like to check with u, hv u ever know tat something is wrong yet u do it ? not everyone knows the law as well as u. If tat's the case then after having death sentence as a warning can totally stop ppl commiting crimes?? I guess those who commit a death penalty will realise their mistake while they are on the way to hang, but nt while they are doing it... just like u and me won't know the feeling of death until we reach the day.Originally posted by bananaking:singapore's space will be soon used up by these death row criminals..also..the death sentence can also be used as a warning to warn off those people who are commiting crimes that are punishable by death...these will let them know that there will be consequences in the things they will be doing..sos hanging will be the best way to settle things..
Yes its true. In fact I just read that most of the countries which have no capital punishment have a lower crime rate than those which do. Further more just read in wikipedia than more wrongful execution is also possible. For example, there is at least one person who has exonerated due to DNA evidence from the death penalty every year since 1992. There may countless others who may have been wrongly executed. Thus capital punishment should never exist. Thats my opinionOriginally posted by Short Ninja:We coulc also argue that the death sentence do not deter people from killing. Some countries like Iceland have no capital punishment and yet homicide cases are few.
he will die sooner or later from blood lostOriginally posted by kalangkabo:i read somewhere that if the criminal doesn't die after the 1st execution attempt, he is set free?
i suppose the guillotine is the only sure-fire (sorry for the pun) way of execution... in all other methods, there is a probabilty of failure
have not heard of anyone walking around w/o his or her head...
but then again, some religion or race (especially older chinese) frown on not having a "complete body" after u die - "si wu quan shi"
If tis person happens to be one of ur family member which will u chooseOriginally posted by jedditte:then again, for the issue of drug smuggling, if this person gets caught, how is the government going to rehabilitate the offender? life imprisonment? waste of taxpayers' money. counseling? no way. they'll prolly don't give a hoot about it and they repeat the offence again.
assuming the situation where this bugger manage to get thru the customs. How many families will get broken up if the drugs get into the families? in the past we heard about fathers selling off their wives and daughters just to get enough money to gamble. ( iirc china during manchu rule). how sure can you say that this scenario will not repeat? remember, history repeats itself.
imho the death penalty is the best punishment and deterrence. tell potential traffickers to gtfo singapore.
you may say i'm hard-hearted. i choose B. you get yourself into deep trouble, you pay for the price.Originally posted by sun8:If tis person happens to be one of ur family member which will u choose
A) life imprisonment
B)death penalty
true, you have a valid argument there. but then again, in the chinese sayingOriginally posted by viper146:Yes its true. If i fight for the death penalty to be served to the murderer can i get back my love ones if murderer died ? the ans should be no.Originally posted by jedditte:true, you have a valid argument there. but then again, in the chinese saying
"all temples have ghosts that die wrongfully", so i'm not surprised if there are any miscarriage of justice.
and also, wikipedia is and is not a good source of information. good in the sense that well-informed people can enlighten readers on topics that they do not know.
bad in the sense that whomever is free enough and bother to register a wiki account can post whatever he wants.
then again, i still stand by the belief that the death penalty should exist.
and sun8, if you want to talk about kinship. assume that someone has murdered ALL your close ones. what will you do? will you fight for the death penalty to be served to the murderer or you will consider how tramautic will it be on the murderer's family and appeal for life imprisonment? and sun8. please don't argue for the sake of arguing. really appreciate that.
i second that notion.Originally posted by LazerLordz:For those who think that only Wiki has information that is contrary to supporting the death penalty, I suggest they read up on some academic journals.
