If I were the interviewer, I'll pick the one who impresses me with his words and thinking, and not his records. The records will only get him as far as to before me, no further.Originally posted by Crystal_Dumpling:Think of it this way, if I'm the interviewer, this student comes to me with AAA , no CCA, another is AAB, with outstanding CCA record like winning at nationals, or going overseas for community service, etc. Who do you think the interviewer will pick?
well, if i am nt wrong, abt 60% of the O level student cohort go to poly while abt 35% goes to JC and MI.Originally posted by davidche:Most poly students tend to be not so acadamically inclined so naturally they wont pursue a degree, Thus there will be a lesser intake of poly students.
Contrary to JC students, i dare say 95% of ALL the JC students are going to uni because there is like no other way out if you dont go uni. Its a do or die.
There is also lesser poly students compared to JC students.
In all, i think that the competition for a uni place between jc students is higher.
Orh. So ours is different.Originally posted by tfcheng:im lazy to click thru page 2 to 5 to see if this is pointed out.
but i went to SIM the other day and the prof said its (grade for all modules) divide by (total no of tries u took for all modules)
Poly is easy but it's only if you're not aiming to go for universities. If you want to be the top best in poly (you'll have to if you want to be eligible for uni), it's also tough competition, as tough as JC. But imagine, in poly, the environment is different...you have less peer pressure to make you study.Originally posted by davidche:I am definitely going to university for further studies, possibly psychology.
I gauge my o-level results as about 12pts, after cca dedcution.
I am not in a Uniform group or sports, im in a performing arts.
So based on my description, would you recommend me to go JC or Poly.
Thanks a lot for your opinions!!
*Only constructive replys pls and i need no advise on things like perhaps i shldnt go uni..etc..
I think i go JC.Originally posted by mahawarrior:Poly is easy but it's only if you're not aiming to go for universities. JC environment got a lot of stress one, but some people perform only under stress and peer pressure. True, if you fail in JC you'll have nothing else to cushion you. But the majority of the people who studied in JC actually do make it to the uni. You'll make it if you do study of course.
So my take is, if you want to go uni, go JC first.
