Voting is just 1 right under Human rights. It is not everything.
So students can't vote, and thus no rights? So you can abuse them all you want coz they are not protected under the law. (Which is the right to security)
And so you can kill anyone who is underage? Coz they do not have the rights to survival?
doesn't make sense, does it?![]()
You damn suay. I see so many doing the same things, they are just about alive.Originally posted by ChingAlvin:i dun understand. polytechnic wise, we are consumer, why are we subjected to wat they deem as inappropriate?
i was approached for smoking, not within sch campus.
i was approached for spotting tattoo and "seeming" offensive clothes..
It seems like you do not understand the word "law" at all. Have you been in this field bfore?Originally posted by allentyb:wah lau
you twist and turn my words
i care not to explain further as, TS is just whining, to be exact, students are protected by the law, if you commit crimes under 18 years old, the law can be merciful
if you kill someone regardless, whether you are 18 years old, or underage, you still be trial as an adult
what sort of rights, are TS and you, talking about?
freedom of speech? huh?
According to the law, if you felt that the security guards has insulted you because they are checking your ID with no reasons at all, but just out of making fun or finding trouble with you, then you can sue them for slandering and invasion of your privacy. See securities are not police. However, this kind of case is possible to win but highly unlikely. Because it is almost impossible to prove to the judge that the security does not have a reasonable suspicion against you or what you are doing at that time. Especially when you are staying back in class after school. There are cases like this in universities in the States and students have won, but again, rare.Originally posted by ChingAlvin:I am pretty confused here. you see, i've gone through the school conduct and discpline regulation, it says nothing about staying in class after 5+, it says nothing about wearing offensive clothes (the word fuck), it says nothing about tattoos, it says nothing about having to comply with securities for ID (once you give them ur id, most likely would be charged, so i tend to not give them if i feel that i am not in the wrong), but they would always say "offences stated in the school rules includes, but are not limited to what is written in there".
By saying that, they have the right to charge us with everything they feel is wrong..
securities can be really fucked up, and the discpline commitee always side them, so, cant we protect ourselves?
i am looking for things like rights, regulations etc for students, but cant really find them.
Does it mean we are subjected to the school?
The singapore law does not regard many things as "breaking rules/laws" so why the school's able to charge us with things which are not wrong by singapore laws?
If its like this, it's highly probable that the school can do anything they want to us, knowing we are students, and does not have the ability to go against them if there are no laws/regulations protecting us for definite...Originally posted by chenc:According to the law, if you felt that the security guards has insulted you because they are checking your ID with no reasons at all, but just out of making fun or finding trouble with you, then you can sue them for slandering and invasion of your privacy. between, i only mention about rights, i am not depriving anyone, of their basic human rightOriginally posted by chenc:It seems like you do not under the word "law" at all. Have you been in the industry bfore?
Here goes...
If you kill a human and you kill a animal, will you get the same punishment under the law? Obviously not.
Thats why laws to protect human are only applied to humans, yes this sounds silly but obviously you need telling.
And since in Singapore, at least i know of, all human enjoys equal human rights, and therefore are represented equally under the law.
So if you say a student has not rights at all coz he can't vote, then you are saying he does not enjoy human rights. (This is what you said, i did not twist)
And therefore, anyone who does not enjoy human rights is not considered a human being, like an ant. The life of an ant is not protected under the law.
Thus, according to you, since students have not rights whatsoever, students do not enjoy equal protection under the law from adults. And therefore according to you, killing of underage human being is perfectly alright.
I am a student, and am pretty sure of my rights.![]()
Sorry to have selectively quoted you here.Originally posted by ChingAlvin:i am looking for things like rights, regulations etc for students, but cant really find them.

rights to visit pub? what are you talking about?Originally posted by chenc:Sorry to have selectively quoted you here.
Students enjoys every rights adults have, except rights to voting and visiting adult pubs and restricted movies in cinemas. Also there are small things like marriage etc.
Students do enjoy human rights on the whole, like rights to survival, rights to legal protection, etc
I am seeking for regulations, rules, or student rights which protects the student.Originally posted by allentyb:between, i only mention about rights, i am not depriving anyone, of their basic human right
and let me ask you, what sort of rights, are you talking about?
like i said, you make a irrelevant statement, for once, make up your mind,
let me state you a more accurate example, if you commit theft, and you are underage, the judge will be more lenient with you, or would you prefer that he judge you accordingly to the law what has been stated, as an adult,
again, you never mention anything about, what sort of rights, are you seeking?
why should the government listen to what students have to say, when they can't even vote, and again, can they put them into power
the answer is no
if you can't answer what i am asking, then don't bother repeating yourself
and again, i am only mentioning about rights, everyone have human rights, the right to speak up, the right to remind silent, the right to do whatever you want
these are basic human rights, after all, this is a democratic country, i seriously don't know what you are talking about
first of all, you mention - If you kill a human and you kill a animal, will you get the same punishment under the law? Obviously not.
huh? you are the one, who said, that And so you can kill anyone who is underage? Coz they do not have the rights to survival?
are you making any sense at all, again, i urge you to check your statement before you even post
and then you mention - If you kill a human and you kill a animal, will you get the same punishment under the law? Obviously not.
huh? this is very obvious, how can you compare killing a human and an animal, what are you talking about,
i merely mention about, the judge will be more lenient with you, if you are underage
and this is totally irrelevant, because human =/= animal, you can't make an comparison
like i said, if you are talking about basic human rights, all of us have it,
what sort of rights, are you seeking, if you don't know, why not, you wiki or google or yahoo
then you reply to my post, on rights, because you are not making any sense,
So now, students enjoy human rights on the whole, are we subjected to what the school deem is wrong, when the law does not???Originally posted by chenc:Sorry to have selectively quoted you here.

first of all, if you have tattoo, then if the security want to check your IC, you could just rebate them back, are they police, if they are not, then they don't have any rights to check your IC at allOriginally posted by ChingAlvin:I am seeking for regulations, rules, or student rights which protects the student.
Schools like polytechnic are not like secondary schools, students in there ranges from 17 to 30+ or even more.
I understand that its against the law for underaged to smoke, or for people to smoke within the campus, but around the campus, they forbid it and is able to charge us... Why are they able to do that when even the law does not? are we subjected to what the school deem is wrong?
Piercings, tattoos, hairdos are all student's preferences, the law doesnt even say they are illegal, so why can the school charge us what all that? We are all young adults, cant we have those things we like?
The school outsource their security system, having the school in charge of them. Securities tend to throw their weight around and always threathen to charge us when they feel what we are doing is inappropriate. When we go against their order, like producing our ID, we are treathened with explusion.
How can we protect ourselves from those things???
See the problem is there are many more rights to juggle.Originally posted by ChingAlvin:So now, students enjoy human rights on the whole, are we subjected to what the school deem is wrong, when the law does not???
