You mean you didnt know how to seek solace in Islam? Or pray to Allah?Originally posted by Imotep:Hmmmm, well, sorry, yesterday my internet got problem. been having net problems.
I'm a new convert. I converted in April. The story behind my conversion is that there is on dark period in my life during that month of April.
I argue with my mum alot until she said she don't care where I go anymore and stuff. At the same time, I caught my ex kissing another guy when I went to surprise her. I was really really down at that point of time and even contemplate suicide.
So, as a last resort, I tried to ask my friends for help. I don't know what happen then but it seems I'm attracted to only 2 of my friends name both of whom are Christian.
After telling my problems to them, I felt much better and they told me to just persevere. That Saturday on the same week, one of the 2 invited me to her church and since I got nothing better to do, I went. She had previously invited me 3 other times but I declined because I got things on.
After that first visit to her church, I never looked back ever since. I never failed to go to church for 3 weeks. I then challenged God and Jesus to show me a miracle to which He really did show me something and I converted one week before my 20th birthday.
Been a Christian ever since and I'm proud of it.
I realize that there will be some backlash from my family members but I also hope that they understand my decision. Jesus help me improve my relationsip with my mother and also He turn me into a less angry young man.
I used to just be angry at everyone or the slightest things will just irritate me but my friend intro me an online Sermon where I learnt this:
Be angry yet do not sin; Do not let the sun go down with your anger.
Why don't you let him choose or support him if he decided to do so, than imposing your opinion on him.Originally posted by shade343:You mean you didnt know how to seek solace in Islam? Or pray to Allah?
hmmm, tat the malay gal drop out halfway thru the RCIA lor.Originally posted by shade343:what so sad about it?
This is no joke. TS is committing idolatory.Originally posted by laoda99:Of coz, it is impossible for a man to die for another's sin.
But if it is Jesus, it is possible becoz he is God.
At least this is what we Christians believe.
it was a question by shade.. dont be defensive.. nothing wrong with it.. i was wondering of the same thing too..Originally posted by banzie:Why don't you let him choose or support him if he decided to do so, than imposing your opinion on him.
Hmm Thanks for the information... I guess our main topic is not really about Malay.... or its origin classfication or history. Rather muslim converting into another religion.Originally posted by Meat Pao:Hmmm......I dont know if I should continue on talking about the term 'Malay'....because it might be a distraction from the original topic.....maybe a little off-topic...But I see some people are still abit confused about this.....I wonder why.....I thought it's pretty simple.....
I will try maybe one last time....after that I think I should refrain talking about this anymore, because its a bit off-topic.....
'Malay' is not a broad general term for the native peoples of South-East Asia. It is a smaller distinct ethnic group found in Malaysia, Singapore, Southern Thailand, Brunei, parts of Sumatra and Kalimantan.
'Malay' is not wide in scope.
If we want to refer to the wider/ broader general term of the native people in this region, the term is 'Austronesia'.
Since it is a bit formal, and I think nobody use it in daily conversations, maybe we can just say 'Native South-East Asians' or if u have a particular region in mind, just say 'Native Indonesians' or 'Native Phillipinos' for example.
'Malay' is 1 ethnic group among dozens or hundreds of ethnic groups comprising this Austronesian people.
Simple right?
In practical terms, it is wrong and silly, for instance to refer to a native man on a Jakarta street as a 'Malay', because for all likelihood, he is actually a 'Javanese' and not a 'Malay'.
Simple right?
However a Javanese and a Malay are indeed in the same family of that broader grouping, the general term 'Austronesia'.
So there is a mix-up, some people are using 'Malay' for the concept of 'Austronesia'. Malay is actually a smaller or lower more specific term, below 'Austronesia'.
In practical sense, 'Javanese' and 'Malay' have the same position.
'Javanese' is not under 'Malay'.
'Malay' is not a broad term.
So......
Haiiiii.......
Please also check wikipedia.....type there 'Malay' you will see the explanations....basically 'Malay' refers to a distinct ethnic group, while using 'Malay' as a broader grouping or as a race, is rejected by experts.......and I think by daily practice as well. Basically those Javanese people dont feel they are Malays. Same with Balinese, Batak, etc so on....
Javanese....when they marry....the marriage costume is different....traditional food is different.....mother tongue language is different.....the ancient teachings is different...etc....
Basically they are a separate ethnic group, thats why there is a name called Javanese. And so on so forth with the other ethnic groups.
Meat Pao.
Yea wrong place to talk about. Guess TS just looking for a place to ask questions and counsel. Wrong forum though.Originally posted by Honeybunz:Talk about religion... somemore it's about one religion to another.
