the jews were a race....people are either born jew or you are not....about malay christians....rare....last time i used to go follow my fren go his cell group meeting....but it made me realise how the god in front of me was always my god....i never thought of going aboard islam after that....juz becoz were not allowed to drink intoxicants, and eat pork doesn't mean were not given the choice to...i drank sake once....and i have never prayed for a couple of months now....but still i'm not interested in Christianity.....i think its coz its impossible for one to die for another's sin and that sin is like an inheritance in Christianity...hmmmOriginally posted by curryman:how about jewish malays?

A lot of confusion on this term 'Malay'.

From an anthropological point of view the Malay Race is even much bigger than what you thought. Even the Dayaks,Dusun.....orang asli of Malayisa should be included but only because they are predominantly animists,Christians or others that the Malaysian Government does not recognize these people as Malays.The Malay Race were the first settlers in South East Asia although we dont really know where these people really originated ffrom.The orang Melayu is bangsa Melayu and no different from the other Malays.If you ask someone from Sulawesi about his race he might say that he is a Bugis and bangsa Melayu (ethnic Malay).The Term Melayu in Indonesia is more associated with the Malay Dialect Most people in Indonesia would claim to be a Malay..even for a Javanese not sure about the Balinese though because of their Indian/Hindu Ancestry. -
Weren't malays originally hindu or animists? When they changed to be muslim, they were apostates themselves! *Gasps!* However it came about to establish malays to muslims only, that was really dumb.

I am aware of Malay Christians - their names are usually similar to eurasian names.

yup.....everybody around the malay archipelago were hindus.....it was only when muslim merchants came that malays adopted islam.....hmm....history goes a long way.....

Bad or not, GOD will separate us on Judgement Day..No point arguing who is right or wrong.. Simply said, i'll breathe my first breath as a Muslim and breathe my last as a Muslim..Even though im not Malay, it's a religion i enjoy and frequent seek solace with the Almighty whenever i'm troubled. Enuff said, my heart is always "contented" confiding in Him.
