Teachers spying on students

A lot of students at my school in my year and the year below me (sec 4 and 3) usually go clubbing on friday nights and some of the teachers have been listening in to our conversations about it and maybe have even received reports from outside sources about it as well. Now, some of the teachers have decided to hang around the club frequented by the students from our school to catch them in the act and get them in trouble. I think this is totally unfair because what a student does outside of school is none of the school's business and they shouldn't interfere with students' private lives and this kind of 'spying' is a major breach of privacy. I know that engaging in activities such as clubbing, drinking and smoking at this age is against the law but that should be the parents' concern not the school's. Please post comments or thoughts on the matter thanks.

When the student are caught smoking and other act by the police, it does affect the school's image.
Being caught by school staff is better than being caught by police. -

Yeah some teachers might have ulterior motives.. Haiz... Teachers.. We are supposed to respect them. Hopefully they are really catching those people who are doing illegal clubbing. Of course its a breach of privacy but you can't possibly lock up a teacher regarding that. Because he can always say that he was there to club himself and chanced upon his students.. =)

If get caught by police hor, of course the school image will get abit damage lah. Imagine the police report to the school about some of your student got underage smoking. The principal must exaplain to MOE and other Directors leh.. For the teachers' motive, I wonder why they should be so kind to spy on you. Isn't it a better alternative to inform your parents? Why bother themselves?

His school doesn't have to answer to MOE per se.
In any case, there's no Privacy Act.
If you can have the balls to club when you're 15, then have the balls to admit it when you're caught. I can't stand whiny kids yelping about being caught.
If you can sneak around the clubs, your teachers can surely monitor you. There's some fun in that if you know how to play.
Be thankful the legal age for drinking here is not 21, like the United States.
