I think it is illegal because i see it quite dangerous. When my school dismissed us, i go to the bus stop and saw cyclist riding on the pavement, nearly knocked down someone who was walking on the path. So it was the best of not cycling on those dangerous paths.
When i was young, my sister and i don't ride our tricycles on pedestrian paths. We rode our tricycles on the park instead as it was safer. It was really fun. Riding tricycles/bicycles in the park is the best. However, my siblings and i don't ride tricycles/bicycles anymore as we were growing and our tricycles/bicycles are getting dusty in our storeroom. So, at my age, i still can't cycle on a bicycle.

so cyclists remember to say "excuse me" & "thank you"

It is wrong for cyclists to be on pedestrian walkways but usually one eye is closed until the cyclist knocks into a pedestrian. Pedestrians have the right of way on pedestrian walkways and the cyclist will be deemed wrong to have ridden there.
If the cyclist had knocked into you and injured you, you could have properly lodged a police report. But in your case, it appears that you have taken the law into your own hands to kick his bicycle and causing him to fall, probably sustaining some injuries....
Both appear to be wrong.... Two wrongs don't make a right. I suggest you both kiss and make up lor.......

last time police man used to patrol in taiwanese bicycles, on the footpaths
and a few times i cycled on the footpath and there was a traffic police right in front of me... he also dont care... that $50 summon is a waste of his time when theres bigger fish

Not all areas have cyclist pathway, plus those pathway always will end somewhere. Two examples are Yishun and Hougang. Yah lor. I also find the network of cycling paths in Singapore inadequate. In many other cities I have visited (such as those in China, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, etc), there are lots of cycling paths and one can cycle from one side of the city to the other without worrying about colliding with pedestrians or vehicles... I think the Singapore govt should build more cycling paths or allocate a lane on the roads for cyclists, instead of coming up with stupid laws and penalties that ban cyclists on pedestrian walkways. -

Being a cyclist myself , some people on the pathway act deaf when we ringed our bells , and dont move aside .
Cycling on the road itself is extremely dangerous for novice cyclist . At BP , the roads have many vehicles and heavy vehicles especially . Got one time i cycled along Woodlands road heading towards Kranji there , got one semi truck carrying concrete slabs sped and just zoomed past me . Kinda scary to have a vehicle almost 50 times your weight to speed past you . -
do you know that legally you can ride on the road slowly and the cars at the back has to live with it....
