report it to the police, extort money from them!Originally posted by Croaking_Toad:Who has the right of way in this situation? Too many times I have had uncles and aunties on their bicycles ringing their bells and expects everybody else to clear the way for them. And if we are too slow to move away, we get a mouthful of 'colourful language' from them....WTH![]()

With such uncertainty of the law in regards to cycling on the pedestrian path, I doubt the police will do anything about this.Originally posted by BusSpeeder:report it to the police, extort money from them!
nope, cos i ran away without looking backOriginally posted by BusSpeeder:did he hit you?
You dare to remind the uncles and aunties that pedestrians have the right of way??? I wouldn't.Originally posted by de_middle:it is not illegal however cyclists have to give way to padestrians. A litte kindness & politeness will go a long way & making everyone's day better riteso cyclists remember to say "excuse me" & "thank you"

It's illegal... but the police don't give a damn... until you get into accidents or if you are caught on highway.Originally posted by de_middle:it is not illegal however cyclists have to give way to padestrians. they should implement a permanent law towards doing this, it's really uncomfortable for a bicycle on a pedestrian path and we have to give way, if not we have to listen to their words of cruelty.Originally posted by Croaking_Toad:With such uncertainty of the law in regards to cycling on the pedestrian path, I doubt the police will do anything about this.
isnt that bad enough?..I mean...peak hours means there are a lot of pedestrians...so are the number of bad cyclists...Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Hmm... it depends on the area and time ba... my area also got quite a lot of bad cyclists... especially during peak hours. Off-peak hours I meet better ones.
its not uncertain...its just that its not strictly enforced.Originally posted by Croaking_Toad:With such uncertainty of the law in regards to cycling on the pedestrian path, I doubt the police will do anything about this.
pedestrians do not even need to give way to the irresponsible cyclists and there are cyclist pathways, but I can see some who do not follow it.Originally posted by de_middle:it is not illegal however cyclists have to give way to padestrians. Not all areas have cyclist pathway, plus those pathway always will end somewhere. Two examples are Yishun and Hougang. If they want to build, why not just build it straight through, rather than making it end somewhere.Originally posted by BusSpeeder:pedestrians do not even need to give way to the irresponsible cyclists and there are cyclist pathways, but I can see some who do not follow it.
Yah lor. I also find the network of cycling paths in Singapore inadequate. In many other cities I have visited (such as those in China, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, etc), there are lots of cycling paths and one can cycle from one side of the city to the other without worrying about colliding with pedestrians or vehicles... In many European countries, cyclists can even bring their bicycles onto trains and buses during off-peak hours.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Not all areas have cyclist pathway, plus those pathway always will end somewhere. BP , besides its Zhenghua park , its quite cyclist unfriendly to me .Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Not all areas have cyclist pathway, plus those pathway always will end somewhere.
