A Taiwanese restaurant has been condemned for serving fish whose body is fried while the head is held above the boiling oil – such that the head is still moving when served.
The restaurant sent its cooks to China to learn how to prepare yin yang yu, or dead-and-alive fish, and began to serve the dish in June, the United Daily News said.
The creation has landed the restaurant in trouble, with animal-rights groups and members of the public condemning the restaurant. Despite this, the restaurant has plans for another dish: "Shrimp cooked alive." — DPA

type in "sushi" on youtube and you'll see sashimi being sliced off live-fishes in japan. -

Believe it or not, that dish was done once in Singapore, around 1985/6 during a food fest at the then WTC.
The fried fish was served, with the head still gasping.
And the patrons, delightlyfully dig into the flesh before the fish died.
The SPCA stoped the cook from preparing that dish again for the fest. -
