It could be argued that education is not necessary. There's a group of people in the US called the Amish who have deliberately kept their society in the early to mid 1800's.
Neither the men nor women have modern knowledge nor education.
As for Singaporean women, I notice that many highly educated women often end up marrying foreigners (read- caucasians).
Education is fine, but it tends to open up their eyes towards overseas and away from SG.
I also find the most caring and friendly Singaporean females are not highly educated. The education gives a level of snobbishness, higher expectations and a perception of being better. Some girls regard this as being independent.
