China together with the rest of the world are holding 'a heck of a lot US$' in foreign reserve and US$ really has nothing backing the currency. To use US$ to buy those papers associated with sub-prime mortgages to me makes a lot of sense. At least those sub-prime papers have at least property assets backing them whereas US$ you have nothing and yet the whole world is accepting it for payments for oil, iron-ore, copper. uranium etc.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:If only that was true... they can buy them and then burn the papers for the ghosts in hell... hahahaha... because as of now... a US Federal Court refused to let one bank foreclose until they can show proof that they own the properties and not just simply showing the court the SIVs... maybe they can show the proof and if they can, they will keep it...
... if they determine that they cannot hahaha... they will be so happy to sell them to China and Temasek, that will buy them up like a bargain (as usual) and then find that the papers are worth for use only as hell notes...![]()

Edited to add: I have just found out that a couple more US Judges did the same... disallowed the foreclosure... until proof of ownership is brought before the court...

I'm new to this forum. I did not read through every page on what was discussed, however I feel that some of your comments that linked the market drops and your local government together were unjustified.
Your government couldn't have done anything to not be affected by the recent market corrections.
This is a public forum, and are accessible by people from all walks of life. Some may not have enough know-how in investments. By incorrectly linking market performance to your government, may cause serious misrepresentations, not to mention potential lawsuits against yourself (at least in my country).

No hard feelings.

I'm assuming he's at least semi intelligent, so he doesnt really believe the things he is writing. He just wants ppl to band together and hopefully buy his book.

except, the one person who claims he can prove that 1+1 =2 refuses to do so.(again, i'm looking at you andrew)Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:because that quote... is a critical strategic error in thinking... when people make strategic critical errors in thinking... what else they say, what follows... is suspect...
It is like a kid that tries to do additional maths and all the time, he thinks that 1+1=zero... and when people tells him it is not, he insists that 1+1 is zero and is the truth...
...so every time, the kid opens his mouth, and tries to show people how brilliant he is... all you need to do is remind the kid that he said and he continues to believe that 1+1=zero....![]()

this is so fundamental.... asking people to prove that "odds ARE everything" is not true is like asking people to prove that 1+1 is not zero....![]()
