The problem is not that people don't want to help.
You see, you already told people you father is in deep shit oweing $6000.
This means your mother/sistes/brothers/YOU...DO not have any spare S$6000 left in all bank accounts?
No one would want to lend you any more money becasue you are likely a potential 'bad debt' case.
If I were to lend you money, then two months down the road, I will become a bastard load shark knocking on your door asking for late payment and you will report police to catch me.
I am assuming that your father owe only S$6000 to the loan shark.
Unless you tell me so, I would not know that your father could have owed more than $6k and you manage to raise the monies and still short of $6000.
I hope by this time the load shark has not killed your father or do harm to the house gate.
The best solution is as follows;
Ok...just call up those people that buys 'second hand' laptops/LCD TV advertised on Newspaper or classified ads.
You go to courts and buy the necessary TV/Laptops and resell it to them for instant cash. Then you slowly repay the Courts in monthly installment.
Its the best way out. If you do not want to lose face to go begging your friends/relatives for the money. -
